This car is awesome. I'm surprised more people don't get the widebody 4 and convert to RWD...

And I'm slightly confused - so the dyno you posted was BEFORE the new plenum and TB. In that case, it will be great to see the after dyno. Maybe I am dumb but what power did it put down this time?? 340hp?

I think most people buy the 4 for the AWD capabilites, why would you want to make it a RWD?

I mounted it on the side of the passenger seat. (there's the hole for the shoulder belts). It's quite shaky when there is no passenger (no weight) on the seat as there is some play in the sliders. So not ideal but ok.

I suppose you could buy a C2S in that case... the fwd delete was done by the previous owner of my car but I do have all the parts to turn it back to 4wd. I don't see a reason for adding more weight and don't really need the 4wd for anything.

The dyno for before the throttle body and the plenum. I posted about the problems with dynoing these cars...it seems you need to trick the ECU to get real numbers.

I had the car at a local exhaust specialist this week. We put on Dansk headers and they made me custom cat pipes with 100-cell racing cats.

The exhaust note is very racey now, almost like a CUP car. But only when you open up the throttle. On idle and with easy throttle it is very quiet and smooth. I like it!!

There is a noticeable loss in low end torque but on the other hand a big kick in the upper band. Also it feels as if the throttle response is a not as crisp as it was with the stock headers and cats. (I think this is due to lost back pressure).
My butt dyno tells me the car has an easy 20-30hp more than stock. We'll se what the effects are in the lap times.

Original headers:

Haven't posted any updates about my 997 so thought I'd write something here while the car is in hibernation in my garage.

Had a wonderful summer with the car, I put more than 5000km on the it.
Included a handful of track days at the local tracks, many spontaneous sunday drives with my 2 year old girl etc.

I put on Michelin Pilot Sport CUP 2 tires early in the summer and amazingly they have taken the beating and there is still a lot of thread left. These tires are definitely the best bang for the buck! (performance vs. streetability vs. durability).

The stock exhaust manifolds will go back on during winter. The Dansk headers were not my cup of tea. They moved a huge amount of torque from the mid range into the top end...very nice for a track only car but I lost the thing I liked in the 3.8 the most; the nice mid range torque. The 100 cell racing cats will stay on the car though.

In August I did the Sportauto.ee track day at Audruring in Pärnu, Estonia.
A very nice event held by some Estonian Porsche enthusiasts.

The purpose of the day is to gather a lot of street Porsches on the track, put in a transponder in every car and then just drive as much as you can with an open pit lane. At the end of the day the fastest drivers are celebrated.
The cars must be street registered, insured and on street tires.

I was the fastest non-GT/non-Turbo 911 of the day, which was quite nice.

A video of the event:

Here's a fast lap in my 997:

In October the Porsche club of Finland organised a trip to the Nürburgring and SPA. We took the ferry from Helsinki to Travemünde (Germany), it was a good 1,5 days at sea to discuss lines etc. over some cocktails...

We spent 4 days at the ring first:

Using all of the track:

A little maintenance (wheel bearing + rear brake discs). We got the wheel bearing from Frikadelli racing (if you know who Sabine Schmidt is), directly from their fridge, ready to go on.

After four days at the ring we drove to SPA. I got a flat tire on the way and almost missed the whole day.

Called ADAC and while we waited for the tow truck I called several places for new tires...the tow truck took us to a very small village in the middle of nowhere. There was a BIG tire shop owned by another Porsche enthusiast whose son happened to drive in the DTM series.
They didn't have tires for me but luckily I was able to source to rear tires from Adenau...my friend brought over the tires with two Porsches, one in each car as they couldn't fit more due to cages etc.

Bringing tires:

Finally at SPA:

A lap around SPA Francorchamps in my 997:
What a great trip! Time for some red wine...(my friend drove back).
