Default Bits of Blue Bling

About 15 months ago I bought a Cobalt blue '08 C2S. When I went to look at the car, I was sort of hoping for a painted console. It did not have one, but it did have the shifter boot trim strip painted cobalt blue from the factory.

Even so, I have thought about going for a painted console from Eric at Bumperplugs. I have not made that leap yet...but I took a couple baby steps and got a few other bits painted by him. I still might get the console painted some day, especially now that I have had a good experience with these smaller bits.

I must say the results were *very* nice. The finish on the parts Bumperplugs did was easily as good as, if not better than, the factory painted trim strip. The finish on the new bits seems to be slightly shinier, deeper, and thicker. And yes, the colors matched perfectly.

Here's a "before" picture. Note the factory blue trim strip.

Here's a similar picture with the new blue bits.

And here is a close up of the new blue bits.

Very nice. IMO, that little bit of blue bling is just enough to make it look cool without going over the top. Nicely done.

I'm not sure how I feel about this and the blue is bright (like mine) so it's something to consider.

I actually think I like it plain without those pieces (even the factory one). It just seems too "look at me" bright. Now on the other hand if you like the look maybe it needs the console too?

I lean A rather than B but there you have it!

I like the blue trim ring around the shifter.
Beyond that, I'd leave it alone. Not a fan of the blue trim around the ignition and lamp switches.

But it's your car

Well, for all the angst and consternation in choosing the new rims, your signature picture still shows the old rims! Enquiring minds and all.

I decided against the blue bling inside my car because I felt that the blue exterior was more than enough. I checked out Eric's blue interior bits but decided to keep my interior more formal, without the bling. With your grey interior the blue bits go much better. With Natural Brown it's just too much in my face. I did go with some bling--but outside only!

Just enough blue with the interior additions. Looks great.

It is probably not as bright in person. Sometimes I can't restrain myself when using the "saturation" slider. And frankly, the pictures show the view as you are getting in the car...once in the driver's seat you barely see these bits. Also, as edgy said, I think the blue goes better with grey than it would with any sort of tan/brown interior.

Indeed. After I posted, I noticed the stickers and thought I should have photoshopped them away. At least the top one matches the car.

As long as we are picking on Tom, I'll put wheels like that on my car the day after he replaces his new leather console with a painted one!

Just kidding...as several people (including Tom) have said in different ways, to each his own. I can appreciate the desire for an everything wrapped in leather interior (heck, that sounds like the interior of my house) and I can understand those who are satisfied with the basic if unexciting standard interior. But I wanted to go for the racier/sportier painted bits and alcantara, as my car already had some of each when I got it but did not have the Porsche "Full Leather". And I think that works well with the cobalt blue and gray. We'll see if I remain satisfied with this or if I do more in the future.
