I just noticed the burp valve, which has a stainless lock seems open when the car is hot and closed when cold. Is this normal? Open meaning the plastic rod which is pulled up by the stainless lock is raised. Anybody notice this?

 

I am guessing you are referring to the coolant reservoir?

Yes it's normal.

Yes its the black valve on top of the coolant reservoir beside the blue coolant cap.
