Numeric Shifter Review and Installation - Part 1 of 5

Thanks for the informative post. Question. When I discussed this with my tech he asked if I wanted just the shifter or the numeric cables as well. He quoted 1100.00 for install including just the shifter and 3-4 hours labor. Any advice?
Thanks.
Thanks.

If its 1100.00 for shifter and the install, that seems like a lot. If you get the shifter and install yourself would be best.

I just ordered the shifter and cables for my 997 and am planning on installing myself. I pinged Numeric with interest on a group buy that I saw on a different Rennlist post and they wrote me back right away with a 20% off coupon...the code is: RENNLIST

You're going to love it. I did the shifter last year and the cables a couple months ago. Huge difference. The car shifts the way I expect a 911 to shift. The cable grommet is the toughest part of the install.

Figured you guys would all get a kick out of the update.
I confirmed it really is the Numeric Racing shifter installed in my GT2 and it was actually on the middle setting, not the most aggressive one, which surprised me. I put it onto the least aggressive setting and am now much happier with the shifting, meaning this is the ideal length for me. How cool is it to have an adjustable shifter though? Knowing I can alter it to another setting in about 10 minutes is pretty amazing.

Just switched to the shortest setting after about a year and a half on the middle setting. I really like it and it doesn't feel a ton more aggressive. So maybe a period of adjustment helps before going whole hog. In any case, new installers do yourself a favor and cut out the little piece of carpet under the shifter when you do the initial install. That way if you decide later to go to the lowest setting, all you have to do is take your shift boot off, rather than having to remove the center console again to get to the carpet.
