Default Here's a Head Scratcher...

Was about to pull out of my garage in my other car and the alarm on my 997.2 just went off randomly. Thought maybe the wind blowing in, though that would be a wee bit sensitive, so reset the alarm, locked the car and went on my merry way. When I returned about 30 mins later the blinkers were flashing as if the alarm had gone off again while I was away.

Any ideas?

Maybe, though the car came off a tender a week or so ago and showed full charge. No problem starting today. But I am no expert on diagnosing electrical issues.

+1. i would have the battery checked, a dying battery on my car had tons of wierd/unrelated issues (stereo being super loud upon startup).

My wife's XC90 went thru a phase like that this winter... It got so annoying I've kept it unlocked in the garage for a week or so. At some point it probably reset itself and those gremlins were gone.

Battery last replaced on 3/25/13 at dealer in Dallas by prior owner. One year warranty on batteries? May need to hustle down to my local dealer before the 25th.

Good thought. Worth a try.

Interior monitoring sensor. Scan tool can give event history with no head scratching involved.

Thanks, Ptech. Dealer trip for that, or a tool I can buy and have for future use?

So driving my sons to school today and the one sitting in front says, "Dad, why does it say 0.5 C?" pointing to the temperature on the PCM display. So, the PCM decided to change my units to celcius and km without my doing. Not sure if this happened before or after the alarm's random behavior, but the electrical gremlins may indeed be lurking.

Putting a call into the dealer this am.

Check to ensure the battery connectors are tight. All the symptoms indicate electrical issues. Was the car stored for the winter? If yes...mice or other creatures chewing on the wires?

Oh no...I thought wire chews were only an Audi thing based on stories I have heard. Maybe it's a German car thing???

Car has been driven 2-3 days a week since I got it in December. When weather has kept her in the garage for more than a few days I have hooked up a battery maintainer.

Sitting at dealer while they check it out.
