Extended Warranty - CNA
I know this is 997 forum but like to hear the opinion/stories about buying after market extended warranty..
My 2010 cayenne factory warranty is expiring soon and I got quote for extended warranty from a Porsche dealer(Baker Porsche). Warranty company is CNA. Below are the quotes.. How does this look? Is it worth spending for extended warranty? I saw lot of posts about not buying it..
Also any one dealt with CNA warranty? Dealer says they are one of the best.
My Cayenne has currently 22K miles and approximately driven 8k/year.
Dealer Quoted for "Automotive Preferred care" Service (Top of CNA line of warranty).
3yr/60K miles - $2000.00
4Yr/60K mikes - $2150.00
5Yr/60K miles - $2250.00
4Yr/72K miles - $2850.00
5Yr/80K miles - $3200.00
8Yr/100K miles - $5950.00
This is with $200 deductible.
I'm leaning towards 3rd option 5yr/60K .. Coverage is 5 years from date of warranty purchase OR 60K on odometer which ever first. Like to hear your opinion..
Call Rick Shaw (843.852.4030) at Baker Porsche, Charleston SC, if you are interested.
Thanks in advance.

I think that an extended warranty is a very good idea if the small print when examined offers good protection. I don't know anything about CNA but would love to. I just called Fidelity today and they have stopped insuring or offering extended "service contracts" on Porsches. So I'd say it is cheap insurance and most likely worth it.
I'd like to know if I bought a 911 from an individual that I could go to my Porsche dealer and buy an extended warranty for those prices! I would surely do it. That's better than a CPO car deal.

I spoke to a gentleman who used CNA warranty and he says great things.
Also spoke to Porsche service manager today and he also confirmed the if IMS happens on a 997, CNA warranty will cover fully. Only out of pocket expense is the deductible.. It's peace of mind.... I'm also looking to buy a 2006 997 C2S.
Thanks,

It might be worth a few minutes to look up Fidelity Warranty and look at their platinum coverage. I would not consider anything but an "exclusionary" warranty. In other words, unless it specifically excludes it from coverage, it is covered. The nice thing is most dealerships, chevy, ford, etc., will sell you a warranty for your Porsche. Good luck.

Good Question..
Coverage is 5 years from date of warranty purchase OR 60K on odometer which ever first.
So If I choose 5yr/60k option, In my case it is another 38K (22k on odometer now) under warranty for next 5 years on the Cayenne.
Thanks,

Very interesting, I was not aware of that! Maybe they saw that the claims were adding up? I purchased a Fidelity Platinum warranty last spring on my Turbo for 4 years and 48K miles.

PM me if you need more info of dealer.

Keep in mind you will get MUCH LOWER quotes for extended warranty while your factory warranty is still in effect. So you might want to look into purchasing it early.
