Default Opinions on two used Targa 4S

Still on the hunt for my first Porsche, really leaning towards the Targa at this point, and trying my best to stretch the budget and get into a 2009 or newer.

I've currently looking at two cars:

http://mb-melbourne.ebizautos.com/de...-11712921.html

http://www.midway-auto-center.com/in...-Targa-4S&id=4

The silver car is a 2010 and the grey is 2009, but the shipping on the 2010 to me would be twice as expensive as the 2009, plus I'd want to purchase an extended warranty on the 2010 and the 2009 is CPO, so the prices would work out to be about the same.

The 2010 is newer, but has higher miles... Aay other differences I might not be considering as a newbie? Love both color combinations. Really want PDK. Really want 4S. Both of these cars, after tax and shipping, would be at the very limit of my budget.

Only 13k miles vs. 47k? CPO? Plus, the grey/natural color combo is a nice one. To me this is a no-brainer. Assuming a clean DMI and PPI, I would go to Melbourne and drive the 2009. Looking good, that would be my clear choice.

I agree. The CPO is the best choice out of these two options. Even though it has a CPO, I'd still have an independent PPI. Since this car has moved around from CT to Canada to FL, you want to check it over pretty closely just to make absolutely certain there are no issues. Maybe I'm stating the obvious here.

They are both equipped the same except for the vented seats on the 2010. Power 14 way seats are nice, but aren't necessary. Without actually seeing the cars in person I'd take the CPO 2009 with lower miles from the Porsche dealer by far.

2009 with lower miles and CPO looks like the best choice.

Actually, it's a self imposed budget...I could afford more but I noticed that shopping for these things is a slippery slope.

Started out thinking I might spend in the 40s, then you all convinced me to get into a 2009 or newer. OK. Then I 'accidentally' test drove a 2010 turbo...that's where I had to draw the line.

Yes 2009 with lower miles and CPO!

Both have PDK, Full Leather, and appear to be similarly equipped... at the same price, the lower mileage is a no brainer from a purchase and a resale point of view.

I'd stay away from the Midway car. It's a rental so who knows what the driving history has been.

Actually, the owner of the car is the owner of the dealership - which also does corporate leasing - and he tells me it was his personal vehicle, titled as a rental for some financial reason I didn't understand. So, if you believe him, it wasn't really a rental.

And you are actually going to trust a car dealer's colorful story?

Honestly, get a grip before you get taken!

Midway is private car rental company in LA similar to Hertz. They carry a lot of exotics (Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche, Rolls) as well as your standard domestic fleet. Mainly rents to wealthy Asian & Middle Eastern visitors staying in various Beverly Hills / Westside hotels.

Looks like you can rent the car for sale - unless they happen two have 2 silver Targa's in their inventory:

Ouch, I stand corrected, and in your debt. Thank you!

That car is now out of the running. Makes the decision a little bit easier. I'm going to make an offer on the other car...but I'm going to think about it over the weekend. Don't want to let my excitement cloud my judgement.

No problem - I was hot on this myself when I was looking a few months ago for my Targa as it was the right price and I really wanted silver. But since it was Midway and I knew they do exotic rentals it was quickly cut from the list.
