Know this is a neophyte question, but I will ask it anyway. :-) Does a PSE equipped 997.2 only operate when in Sport mode? Thinking about adding a sportier exhaust at some point and would want one that works in non-Sport mode too for a nice exhaust note when just tooling around town. Thanks!
In stock form, yes the exhaust only works in Sport mode. But there is a "button" option to turn it on and off at will. My car has PSE that was installed afterward, but it's just left unplugged and in "louder" mode all the time. Do a search, LOT's of exhaust options.
Cheapest and easiest route would be to Fister or Gundo your existing mufflers and install an X pipe in place of the mid muffler. The X pipe is where the magic happens, but you need mufflers modded to let that beautiful sound out so the rest of the world can think to themselves (THAT SOUNDS F-KING AWESOME! And kids will say "Daddy, how come our car doesn't sound like that??") when you drive by.

It's more likely that the whole world will think you're an egotistical jackass for annoying the whole neighborhood when you drive by.
I have the complete stock PSE on my car '10 4S and it is activated by the console switch. Though it was added after the car was delivered, it was the 100% complete factory install with all harnesses, switches, etc. I love it and will definitely get PSE on the 991 4S when the time comes.
Ya' know, even with your PSE on it apparently goes into a quiet mode between 25 and 48 mph (European noise abatement requirements). There have been a few discussions here on this recently.

Don't do it!
I have PSE on my 997.2 'on' all the time as the car came this way. It is far from obnoxious boy racer, nor annoying to neighbors. It really only comes alive above 4000 RPM.
You could install an aftermarket valve controller to an OEM PSE system to control the setting VIA a key FOB. The one that I offer allows you to switch between loud and quiet with the fob, or to have it become an RPM dependent switch.
I also offer a valved sport Maxflo muffler which allows you to have a medium and a loud setting. This is nice because even with the valves closed, you are still getting a nice sporty sound without being dead silent and also without being too loud!
Check out the video (I know, it's a 997.1, but it's the best I have for right now!)

Ditto this. Same exact deal for me. Works perfectly. Sounds great. Will order this way from factory on next car. Very happy.

I bought a 1-year old '10 C2S with stock exhaust. 1 week later I installed Sharkwerks by-pass pipes to replace the center muffler. 6 weeks later I had the local dealer install full PSE while keeping the Sharkwerks by-pass.. Since I don't have Sport Chrono I needed the exhaust switch to be installed also.
If you have Sport Chrono and want PSE installed, you CAN have the exhaust switch installed so you can activate/deactivate PSE independent of Sport Chrono. That would be the way to go.

I do have Sport Chrono; so, good to hear the exhaust switch puts on/off control in my hands if I get PSE installed on my car. Thanks!
