Default Are car colors ubiquitous between manufacturers?

I've seen a couple of Toyota Camrys with an 'orange/red' color that looks very similar to Porsche's swanky amaranth red. Are car colors sometimes the same, as I'm sure Dupont or whoever makes automotive paints must supply different car companies? When you pay up to get a P car is your paint color really unique??

With literally millions of colors, it doesn't take much to make it different.
Even if it looks similar to the naked eye.

I don't think any will be a perfect match but yes there definitely are similar colors. But this isn't anything new, trendy colors often are similar between manufacturers.

I believe the factory paint for Porsche is Glasurit not Dupont. Not sure what Toyota uses but I doubt it's Glasurit.

Porsche used to use Glasurit paint but I believe they use several manufacturers today.

Paint shades are unique to manufacturers however our eyes simply can't measure the differences as well as we might think. For example, some car manufacturers are color trend setters. It used to be that the colors used on the cars in the Porsche catalog for a given year were indicative of what colors would be very popular for awhile. (Unfortunately, it seems Porsche is stuck on silver).

Ditto for trim. Porsche started the trend to blacked out trim in 1974 and everyone followed suit.

I've noticed that Ford with their Mustangs and Jaguar with their latest F something both have blue colors that remind me of my ages-old Blue Turquoise.
