higher mileage certified vs low mileage non certified
I am looking to get a 997.2 PDK 2009-2011. I am looking at two cars. The first one is a 2009 carrera with 48,000 miles but it is certified. The second car is a 2009 carrera with only 7000 miles but not certified. What is the better car to think about getting? thanks

I'd prefer the lower mileage too but 48k isn't that much for a nearly 6 year old car (depending on in service date) so I wouldn't be too concerned. The car has been driven, and that's a good thing with 911's.

agreed with tommy 100%.
7k miles is brand new provided service records are there (cant imagine there would be too much)... have it thoroughly and carefully inspected included all the common sense things adding up re it's milage. ie.
- the tires should have tons of tread left with original 09 DOT codes
- driver seats should have next to zero wear
- MINIMAL chips on front bumper
etc. etc.
if these basics dont add up then i would be suspecting some odometer fishy stuff is going on (i have seen wierd stuff like this in the past re low milage cars with horrendous amounts of tire/seat wear etc etc)
best of luck... i am excited for you, hopefully this mint cream-puff is 100% real.

I take the 7K miles as well, the less miles it has, the less chance you have rock chips, wore seats, wear and tear, it's a 997.2 so IMS is not an issue and from what I've seen 997.2 is very reliable.

Thank you everybody for your input. Details: 2009 7000 miles private seller = $57,000 2009 48,000 miles certified at dealer= $52,000. Very similar options except private one has navigation and blue tooth

57k is just asking price. im thinking real world sale price will be 54-55k.
edmunds expects the 5 year old car to have typical 5 year old usage, milage and wear and tear. meanwhile at 7000 miles your still looking pretty much at a showroom condition car with almost 50% deprecation from when it was officially new.
all these are assumptions of course that hte 7,000 mile car really is what it is.

How many miles do you intend to put on the car? CPO terms are 100K miles or 6 years from original I service date. For an 09 you've got 52k miles to use up in by some time in 2015 (24 months max depending on OISD).
For the pp car, you will have to buy an extended warranty for 36K miles in 36 months?
I would not own the car without some kind of warranty, but I'm risk averse.
