Looking for Advice on Winter Weels & Tires
Hi guys, I'm looking for a winter wheel and tire setup for my 2011 C4S.
Here is what I have found.
Alternate 1. Carrera IV wheels 8x18” ET57 and 11x18” ET51 with TPMS sensors and 235/40VR18 and 295/35VR18 Nokian Winter WR N0 tires, center caps not included. I know next to noting about Nokian tires. Cost = $3,700.
Alternate 2. used Carrera IV wheels 8x18” ET57 and 10.5x18” ET60. Solution requires 15mm spacers and ten extended length lug bolts. Shod with Michelin PA2 235/40VR18 on the front and 265/40VR18 rear, TPMS sensors and center caps not included. Cost = $3000.
Looking for opinions and or alternate solutions.
Thanks for help.

New ride looks sweet. Love those wheels. I have been debating getting a winter wheel set - decided against it since I've got a beater that runs great for the sketchy road days - and was pointed to Suncoast for a new set that is right in the price range you've got above. I think they're even discounted a bit right now.
Enjoy your new ride!

Boulderbobo,
I purchased Michelin Pilot Alpin235/40/18 fronts and 265/40/18 rears with black Andros Spec P rims from Tire Rack with TPMS installed for Right around $2,500 installed. Option to consider. Mine is a 2011 C4S as well. And rock solid in snow with this set-up.

I also bought a 2011 4S cab recently and got a set of snow tires/wheels from tire rack. They are 17" and I was concerned about whether they would clear the brakes, but they do and work fine. They aren't real attractive on the car, but they fit and the tpms system works fine.

As you probably know, we are in the worst drought in over 40 years here in the Sierras, so I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. Good luck with your decision.

I have the Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds on 19" OEM RS Spyder centrelocks. Not a whole lot of options in winter wheels for a centrelock car...picked up a set of used wheels from a Rennlist member, and they have been working great.

Bob nice looking ride.
I live in Boulder also and bought this wheel and tire set from Sun Coast this fall.

The package is OEM wheels, TPMS and Pirelli winter tires. Would have liked Michelin but that was the package and wanted the '18 wheels.
I commute to Denver and they have been good in the snow. Really enjoy the C4S.

2009 C2S coupe
Coupla items.....
1 - Porsche changed the offset on their rims in 2009 with the 997.2 so make sure the offsets of any rim you buy are the same for your car (spec is in your manual). Some say this is not important.... your call but I like to stay factory spec.
2 - When I purchased snow tires this fall, there were only two makes of snow tire available for 19" and 18" rims that were Porsche spec sizes - and all were expensive. Michelin, Dunlop, and Pirelli (avaliable for both). Contis have an inexpensive all season DWS that worked also but is not a pure winter tire.
3 - I use 19" in summer and 18" in winter and am considering moving to 18" rims for all year. I bent a 19" rim this past summer and feel there is no significant (if any) performance advantage.... in 35 years of driving I never bent a rim until I had 19" rims. Who is kidding who here, Porsche is just keeping up with fashion.
4 - My friend purchased a winter tire package from TireRack about 5 years ago for his BMW 5 series (TR denoted this as a BWM 5 package)... after a few months, he thought he threw a weight.... we took the car to a performance tire shop and they looked at the rims and said "those rims are crap, you got those from TireRack". great. He put the rim and tire on a little jig and spun the wheel with his hand. The rim wobbled and wove. It was twisted. The tire guy said those TireRack package rims were too soft and were too thin for the weight of a BMW 5 series. He said "we see this all the time". YMMV
I have owned and used all four of the above noted winter brands and feel the Dunlop and Michelin were the best, Pirellis were awful, and the Contis OK but not a snow tire. I know from reading these boards that many disagree with my opinions. YMMV
If you deviate from Porsche spec, you have many options and can get the pricing down. I prefer Porsche spec (except for N ratings.... I don't care about that particular spec).
Peace

I have run N0 Nokian WR 19s on my 09C4S since new. I love the tires. They have been great both in Nebraska and now in Ohio.
Strictly speaking Nokian calls them an All Season. But they are definitely toward the Snow Tire end of the spectrum - I guess that is a Finnish perspective.

Update
Thanks to a fellow RL here I found a set of Carrera III wheels. Correct size and offset. Wheels came with Nokians for aver fair price.
Thanks Pete!
The wheels do not have TPMS. Not a big deal to me, but now I have TPMS error on mt dash.
Does anyone know how to turn it off?
Thanks,
