This is a common problem... one very annoying one, that manufacturers use foam material for seals that will break down (ozone, or age) in the ducting seals and flaps. It then blows out in very sticky little chunks. Why they don't use a material that lasts longer than 8years is beyond me.

I had this on a 2004 Boxster S. Champion Porsche, in Pompano Beach FL, said it was ac insulation. Labor to fix was insane. I vacuumed out the debris and traded the car on a 2005 Maserati Coupe 6MT.
When I collect for the failed IMS, I'll be in the market for a 997.2 S, PDK. However, the Maser with several mods puts out about 425 hp and is a ton of tail happy fun.
