Default Painting 997 carrera S II wheels platinum

I have a basalt 4S and thinking of painting my standard silver Carrera S II rims to a gunmetal grey colour same as the new 991 rims.
I think its called platinum?
Anyone attempted this before and has photos?
Cheers.

I've had the S II wheels painted 3 times prior by 3 different shops before selling them and here is my take:

- nothing beats OEM clear coat (any thing other than OEM and i find brake dust clings to it more than normal)
- make sure 10000% that they blast the original paint off, a lot of shops like to prime and paint over, however if you have any dings or chips in the original finish its going to come through on the refinish
- let the paint cure an extra 3-5 days before mounting tires, mounting tools will leave a nice mark if paint is soft
- take wheel weights from your tire shop (a few extra) and have the painter finish them in same color, this makes them blend in nicely

Hope that helps

Dan

Also consider Plasti Dip spray painting your wheels. It's easily removable if you want to change back. There are plenty of websites showing fantastic results changing your wheel color this way. Just do a quick google or youtube search.

I'm planning on doing this to my stock turbo wheels. Hoping it turns out good!

I plasti dipped my OEM wheels in "Anthracite Metallic Gray" and they came out great.

You should go for it!

Have you looked into having them powder coated versus painted? My local dealer offers this service and says you can get in many different colors...just another way to go...I am thinking about going this route with my Carrera S II wheels as over the years they have a few bad spots (clear coat, etc...) I am just trying to decide to go "Black" or "Gray/Platinum"??? Good luck!

Is this the kind of color you are after?

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...-today-93.html

Look at the picture of my white car. It was some 2160 dollar option but the only thing it says is "Wheels painted deviating color" without actually saying what the color is. To my eye they are gunmetal but I can't find a color listed on the original window sticker.

I just went through all the option codes for 997.2's and I really can't track down the actual name of the color. Looks like it's option code CRX and on my window sticker it's listed under exclusive options. I tried to google but I can't find any mention of what this color is officially called.

Wheel Dynamics- Those wheels look perfect. What color is that? Are they painted or powder coated? Thanks.

We hard-bake finish the wheels, we DO NOT PC the wheels, this is a blend developed in-house so there is not color code.

We charge $150 per wheel on something like this.

Let us know if we may further assist you!

I am looking for something exactly like this. Could you tell me what color you used and or what wheel this is? Also, is this something you could help me get? I am in Southern California... thanks
