So purchased a 2007 base cab tiptronic in October with 7000 miles on it. I realize now it will never be what I really wanted, but at the time seems like a great deal. I can trade it in and get close to even, but really the best I can spend now dollar wise is to upgrade to is a 2009 S Cab. That will fix Sirius/Bluetooth/ipod issues, lack of power, no sport button and get me to manual (or PDK). But should I just keep it for a year or two and move up to a turbo when I have more money to put into it?
If you really can trade up to the 2009 S Cab and get close to even, I say do it NOW
If you are bored definitely lean toward a 997.2 S 6sp. I have a PDK and find it much quieter and boring to drive than my old 987 Boxster S 6sp. Interestingly enough, I drive it more because I don't have to shift and am ok with it. Personal priorities, I suppose.
Decided to try to sell (rennlist first) and waiting for dealer to respond today. Thinking 991 S is good compromise. If does not work will live with it for a year and give it to my wife to drive as daily driver. Have done that before when I bought boring Lexus GS 450H
Why settle for a 991 S, for that money you will easily be able to find a 2008 Turbo or even a 2010 Turbo, I like the driving experience over pure HP, but you say you love HP. No NA is going to drive anything like a Turbo.
