I have an 08 C2 MT, very happy with purchase but if I would upgrade, the price point for a 997.2 S does not make sense to me. I'd rather get an 09 turbo or a nicely optioned 991 C2.
Think that is way to go for me. I'll try a 09 S with stick, but also drive a new 991 and 09 Turbo. I am all about horsepower in all my cars. A good lesson for those looking to purchase now is don't compromise on things you THINK you could live without because it is a good deal, because you can't
Perhaps because he has a GT3 to sell is the reason he doesn't think you would want an S. I agree, you have to drive them all to know what feels like what you are looking for.
I would think that going from a 325HP/273lb.ft. car with Tiptronic to a 2009+ S with 385HP/310lb.ft. with PDK or MT would be a noticeable improvement in performance.
GT3s are at such a premium right now, if going that route buy a new one
Only you can decide. But going from a cab (heavier) 325 HP automatic to a 385 HP 997.2S is a big jump. I went from a 40th anni w 345 HP to the 997.2S and I found that to be very noticeable. Now will that S be enough - only you can decide. A 991S will not be that much different. 15 extra HP.
My 997.2S with Tubi and 2WD coupe - is pretty fast.

worse year for the Turbo.
MK1 3.8 does it for me. Want to make a move on one in the next few months.

I agree with 2WD. Drove a 2011 4wd and did not feel as light on its feet and crisp.

Where did you buy the car from? I have a really hard time believing you can get close to even on a trade in. A lot of times they will just say that to get your in the door and once you fall in love with that gt3 it won't matter what they offer you cause you will buy it!
