When did the Costco option go away? I just purchased 6 year/60k from Costco at the end of October.

Is it possible to get any of these aftermarket warranties when the car is already out of factory warranty or cpo?

I think FBFisher hit the nail on the head with his question - what is your risk tolerance? These cars are very reliable - but if the thought of going without coverage will keep you up at night, a warranty is money well spent.

Without knowing your history with the car (has it been flawless or problematic or somewhere in-between?) it is hard to make a good recommendation.

While I know you will see many stories that have "come out ahead", I can say this with certainty, Insurance companies(like casinos) are not normally on the losing end of the deal. I have been self-insuring for 18+ months without issue.

If you don't have a 997.1 with the potential for an IMS failure which could cause an engine to "grenade", I would say you should be golden, but....

Good luck.

Yes but it gets more expensive. Quiet a bit too going by the quotes I've seen.

I bought a 48 month Easycare warranty from the dealer when I bought my 2005C2 in Sept 2012. After conferring with my Indy and a friend who is a Porsche mechanic I opted to cancel the warranty last month and use some of the proceeds to replace the ims, rms, aos, water pump and add a spin on filter. They both felt that with this preventative maintenance it was a good risk to take. I am comfortable with not having a warranty, but I am not a worrier. Time will tell if I made a good decision.
