1 year later!! Thanks USMC!!
December 21st 2012 I purchased my first Porsche. I was into VW's in high school because I could not afford a Porsche. I had recently sold a 1969 Cutlass convertible that I had owned since 1990 and put more money and work into than I care to document. I also sold my 2008 Harley Davidson Street Glide all in anticipation of upgrading!! I had done very little research but knew my first Porsche had to be 911 coupe (almost never put the top down on the Cutlass and my wife and daughter hated to have the hair messed up). It also had to be an "S" as well as a manual transmission. I ended up finding a nice 2008 c2s coupe in GT silver on Craigslist with 17,500 miles. I watched it for a while and when he lowered the price I was the first to contact him. I went to look at it and loved it. I told him I would take it and we worked out out the details. I did not realize how well optioned it was until getting on RL later. It has the sport exhaust and suspension, power heated seats, upgraded Bose, Sport Chrono as well as a few other things that escape me as I type this post. It has Alcantera in the seats, headliner, and steering wheel.
The car is WAY more than I ever dreamed. It handles like a dream and has more power than I anticipated. I can hook up my iPhone, allowing me to listen to my music at a very high level.
Then came the RL and USMC's (as well as other's) DIYs. I always loved working on my vehicles but did not anticipate that being a part of the experience of a $100,000+ originally priced vehicle. First I changed the oil. Saved myself some money and the process was pretty rewarding. Then I changed the air filter (more work than I thought it would be) and cabin filter. I installed the cold air intake from Fabspeed (one of the first black kits they sold). I installed some cheap LED interior bulbs and license plate light that I got on ebay. Some of the bulbs look nice but some seem to have 4 separate beams (footwell and door lights). I wonder if the more expensive kits are better. Next I put flat black contact paper over the clear protectors on the front of the rear fenders.
Most recently I installed some H&R lowering springs that I bought from a RL member. The project took 12-14 hours over 4 days. I probably used 3-4 different DIY's to work out the project. One issue was none of the DIY's had sport suspension. Also they were all for a 997.2 (obviously I have a 997.1). In the end it was all pretty straight forward (no differences than the 997.2). This project really allowed me to see the engineering and attention to detail put into these vehicles. It was like working on a swiss watch. It also allowed me to appreciate the detail of the DIY's here on RL.
I got the car back from getting aligned and the winter tires put on last Friday. As soon as I can get it back out I will post some pictures.
Today I received the mesh to protect the radiators. I will probably pull the front bumper later this week to clean out the radiators and fab up some mesh protectors all because of a DIY I read earlier.
Future mods include LED tail lights and driving lights. I also want to put on a duck-tail.
Thanks to everyone for their contributions. I have never had more fun wrenching!!

Congrats on finding a beautiful '08 C2S and the successful DIY projects. FWIW, I started documenting my projects in anticipation of passing on my 997.1 to my boys down the road. Figure it would help my boys plus I wanted to pay back those on RL who have help me along the way. Really cool to hear that some of our postings were of help and added to your Carrera ownership experience. Happy New Years and Enjoy the Ride!
