Default Who is in the drivers Seat? Oil change...

Ok, changed oil first time today. Took out 8.5 l. Put in 8,5 l. The meter says overfill.... Year right, both on hot and could oil. Would like to drain .5 l as experiment. Any one know if i can put down a hose down the filler pipe? Have no docs on how it is on the 997 if this is ok or if the hose could damage something. Ok i can take away the filter or plug but would prefer pump out just a little...

Time to learn a new car...

Had same issue on M96 engine. Put in exact amount drained, and read overfill.
Drained .5 quart, started and then rechecked. Read .5 quarts too low.

As long as you are sure of the replaced quantity you should be ok, start it and let circulate, then recheck.

I did both oil and filter, so... If not pump out a bit is an option it is back to the station and pull the plug a bit...

Oh well. Not a big thing. But as always with oil involved,it can get messy.
Guess I can put my new magnetic plug in at the same time if im already forced to
pull the plug a bit.

Just drive it. This type of "overfill" is a function of the stepped oil gauge. Probably less than 1/4 of a qt. Not a problem. When dealer did my oil changes I always got it back that way. They were doing exactly what you did. Don't waste your time messing with it. Next time stop one bar low and add 1/4 of a qt. Your motor will never know the difference.

Just took off the oilfilter, spilled it out. Fired up the car and did the same thing again. After this the oil level is perfect. Guess it was ,4 ,5 l i took out
