Default Door Sill Carerra S Plate?

Not sure what it is called, but I have a question about the silver/chrome plate on the door still that states the model of the car.

My question is, why does it say Carerra S, when my car is a 4S?

Not a big deal, but I was curious.

Thanks,

Jeff

By the way, my car is a 2009.

Was the plate standard or an option?

Could this have been an install error and maybe I can get it corrected under Porsche warranty (expires early January).

Is the entire sill silver, or is it black plastic, with an oval silver plate with the model designation? At least in '08, the standard door sills were plastic with a silver oval, but stainless steel sills were optional, and are available in aftermarket: http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...997GEN2_access

Perhaps a previous owner put on the stainless steel sills and got the wrong model designation?

There's an insert image icon on this website.

But I would see if the dealer can fix it under warranty. It should say Carrera 4S.

Porsche occasionally makes a mistake when assembling cars. I have seen a 2009 Carrera 4S without the red band across the deck lid--they just didn't use the right lid. In fact, ironically, the nameplate was also wrong for the car--and positioned accordingly. Perhaps your car was assembled at the point just after a beer break. They get a five minute beer break every hour.

Long shot and I hope it's not the case but there have been inquiries about fitting the red reflector bar on NB cars. Easily done as I understand it just like re-badging. Your car looks identical to mine in your avatar. What kind of seats are in it?
