Default Rear tires chopping

I have a 2011 C4S. Purchased new in Nov of 2011 as a leftover. Has stock p zeros, 7k miles. The inside rears are chopped. The noise on the highway is very noticeable. This usually happens when the struts are weak, but cannot see that happening with 7k miles. Just started about 1k miles ago. Any thoughts from anybody if this is struts, or just tires? Thanks

Get new rear tires. Then have the car aligned.

^ what he said. And ask Santa for a quality tire gauge, and be more diligent with your pressures.

Match the tires to the fronts.

Tires are cheaper in the fall, when the snow is falling. And you don't need them...yet.
Snows a really quiet in comparison to these bald puppies.

I have a 2008S with about 14K miles on the Pireli P zero rossos. Very noisy in the back with the right rear having the inside edge "scalloped" or "cupped". They were always a bit noisy but as they wore it got much worse. I think it is that one tire making the racket. The fronts look great but it looks like a set of new rears for next year.

Wish it was that simple. Tires are always, and I mean always at factory PSI. Oh well. Time for new ones.

Griot's garage gauge that goes right up to my compressor. It's accurate.

Attachment 782077

I also have one from Griot's that is made by Accutire that stays in the car. My fronts are dry rotted in the centers. Long story short the car sat for about a year at the dealer. Was a leftover. Since I have to replace all 4, since the p zero's are not available in the N0 rating what do you think? N2 p zeros or PS2's?

New rubber and alignment, now it drives like a scalextric car.

My experience with Pirelli tires on my Boxster is as the tires age, wear, heat cycle, they get noisy. Towards the end of their useful life they get downright noisy. In one case noisy enough to mask a bad wheel bearing.

Sounds like alignment issue when delivered, I would ask the dealer to replace them under warranty and do an alignment. The mileage is way too low for a car that is driven fairly reasonably. No harm in asking
Happened to one of my previous cars, it was getting rubber dust on the rear bumper, all handled under warranty.

Thanks. I'm going to try. Here is a shot of one tire. You can see the rubber is even a different color towards the inside. The tires are nowhere near the wear bars. I know about having slight negative camber but this seems strange to me.

I cant really see in the picture, what is the difference in tread depth from inner to outer? I assume it is a marked difference since you are posting the question.

Dump the P Zero's. They are known to be more noisy than some of the other brands. Go read the surveys on Tire Rack. My Dad swapped out his P Zero's for Michelins PS2 and it transformed the ride.... Lower noise and better comfort.
