Question Advice needed: Thinking of parting with my C4S

I'm seriously pondering selling my '06 C4S with Powerkit, but would appreciate your advice on the best way to do it.

I bought the car in April 2010, but want to know the best way to price it now. As we all know, Porsches have so many options that some cars of the same model year can cost thousands more, or less, than their counterparts.

Mine was found via cars.com from an out-of-state Porsche dealer. As I would sell this myself, I was thinking of the usual suspects: cars.com, autotrader.com, and even Craigslist.

If anyone here can tell me the best way to evaluate my car, price it fairly, and sell it, I would appreciate it.

thanks--

Upgrading Dave? You have a great and relatively rare car. Good luck. Whats the mileage on the car now?

Thanks for the numbers, AJ. Again, each car is so different that I'll have to see. I'll ask the dealer too.

Look at those dates. The most current one in SF Bay. THe best way to get a good number is go to Autotrader.com trade in marketplace. Be honest and you will get a good trade in number on the car.

Consider selling as consignment thru the Porsche dealership. A friend of mine bought his Pcar at Paul Miller as consignment. The dealership can probably give you a fair market value/price instead of trade in price since they are not buying the car from you. In the end, the dealership will still make money from ancillary fees if they sell it.

Even if you decide not to sell as consignment, you still obtained a market price from the delaership to base your asking price.

Just my 0.2 cents. GLWS

I look on Autotrader.com all the time, they are absolutely on the high end of pricing. Which probably explains the insanely high inventory there. On any given day you can pull up 2,000 - 3,000 water-cooled Carreras. Anyone needing a Carrera in less than six hours will have no problem in this market. And then you have all the Cayman/Boxster, Cayenne and Panas... A Porsche buyer has never had so many options at such low rates.

As a private seller that means if I'm willing to do some leg work I can beat just about any other Carrera sold through a middle man site like Autotrader by making a reasonable offer on the forums or Craigslist.

We must be using different autotraders. I saw one 2007 Targa in the $45K-$60K price range listed on the site. I looked for 2006-2008 AWD 911s. There aren't that many out there. I'll keep doing my research, but this shouldn't be that difficult once I make an effort.

I have an 08 C4S with new tires, snow tires, major service, a $115k sticker, with 40,000 miles and 6 months of CPO left and I plan on putting it up for $56k next month. That seems like the right number for an 08. My car is pretty load (Nav, Alcantara everywhere, body color seat backs, interior, black wheels- everything major option except for sport exhaust).

Default Seems reasonable...

Mine will likely be in the same neighborhood as it has all the factory performance/convenience/full leather/options too.

AT.com Trade in marketplace is a service that will give you actual offers on your car from dealerships. They guarantee a check, and it is good for 3 days.

This will give you a good idea of wholesale value on the car, and a few thousand and you have your price.

I would keep it.That'sa beautiful car you have. The depreciation is so huge on all higher end cars. My understanding is the newer the Porsches are, the less connection you have with the road. They are all just electronic wizardry now. Just my opinion only.Cheers.
