Default Bridgestone S04 on sale!

Just found that the Bridgestone S04 (replacement for RE050) is on sale, and has also a rebate... if anyone's looking for tires, it's a great deal IMO. It is frequently rated 2nd to MPSS in reviews, and in some respects a better street tire.

Just had the S04s installed on my 5er and I really like them thus far. Super quiet and loads of grip.

I was thinking of these for my 997 in the near future. Any thoughts? Figure these are equivalent to Michelin super sports. Was considering the super sports for the bmw but the S04s were such a good deal at tirerack. The tirerack advisor said they tested as well as the super sports, and noted the bridgestones had better turn in with the same level of grip.

A replacement with much better overall grip, handling, and wet performance. Just better technology all-around. Kind of like the same as Super Sport vs. PS2.

At $820 all around it's a crazy deal IMO. Specially if you mostly daily they're rated much quieter, better riding than anything else at this performance level.

I used to have the S03's (which I believe is the previous model) on my Boxster as well the M5 (E39) I used to have. I liked the tire very much for the quietness, grip, and wet traction. Had the Michelin Pilots on both cars prior and preferred the Bridgestone. If I recall correctly, I got a good 20K from those tires after having to replace the Michelins with 10K.

I have test driven the S-04 compared to the RE050 and I can definitely report the ride quality is better. They handled expansion joints in the road much better and had no "ring" when going over sharper bumps. General noise level was about the same. The wet grip of the tire is also definitely improved over the RE050. We like them quite a bit. If you prefer a bit more comfort in your performance tire they are a great pick. You can read the test results here. Please call me if I can help.
