There is no way the car has revved that high. I assumed 4 was like 7300 and 5 was 7500rpm.
I see now what you meant about revving in neutral not hitting those numbers!

I've been the only driver since buying it last year and I have not done a 6to3 or 5to2 downshift.
When I had the PPI they said no revs over 3. Very strange.
As far as I understand it a range 5 is likely to cause engine damage. When you say 'they' told you no revs over 3, did you see the readout? Who is 'they'? Do you have a mis-representation of the car situation?

According to Car & Driver 98mph is 7200 rpm in 3rd.

Bought the car out of Province from an independent Porsche-specific dealer. I took the car to a local PCNA dealership for the PPI. I did not see the printout.
Regardless, here I am a little over a year later with a broken engine. Damned odd about those revs though!

On the bright side I did drive it top down from the Atlantic to the Pacific with my sweetie and spent some track time with it including a day at Laguna Seca. Made some killer memories in the first year!

Ooof. I'm gonna say from your pics that you're going to be paying the core charge if you go with a rebuild.
