Default Cost to replace 07 cab windshield

Received the payment amount that State Farm will pay for my new windshield and, net of deductable, is $470 less than the quote from my dealer.

Has anyone replaced their windshield recently and have the cost breakdown with OEM glass for this replacement? Thanks in advance.

After some research the OEM windhsield kit is $850 retail including tax. Question is what should labor cost be from a Porsche dealer for the install?

I just went through this for my 2009 C2S

Numbers are from memory, but I am directionally correct. I had a crack, dealer handled it. I didn't intend on the dealer handling it, but I was in for something else and they said "want us to take care of the crack?".

Dealer total charges with OEM glass was just under $1,000.00. Most dealers farm this out to a third party who shows up at their dealership with a van and does the work. I don't know the breakdown between the dealer, glass, and 3rd party for this particular bill.

Price of OEM glass from AutoAtlanta, about $790.00 http://www.autoatlanta.com/index.php

Price for non-oem glass: around $450 depends on antenea. http://www.windshieldstogo.com/

I suspect you asked your insurer if you had OEM replacement on your policy. Please do as this can really change what they give to you. Non-OEM glass meets regs in effect but in my experience, it can have visual warps that drive me nuts. Also, if you do get OEM glass, make sure the installer does put it in and doesn't put in the cheap Chinese FY or Pilkington galss as this is the oldest game in the auto book. The OEM stuff is usually Saint Gobain Sekurit.

Good luck,

I just went through this with State Farm here in Houston on my 07TT. Porsche is the only one who makes replacement glass for the 07TT. So, I got factory glass. I told them I wanted the dealer to do it and they said they would call the dealer and 2 other places and then pay the cheapest. Luckily the dealer was only $40 higher. State Farm paid the difference. Total price was about $1100. Then I got my PCA 10% off the glass because the dealer subs out the labor. So, with my $500 deductible. I was really only out ~$400 because of the PCA discount.
