997.2 purchase
I disagree with the notion that there are lots of cars out there. Unless you want black or silver you're very limited and there are significantly fewer .2s than .1s . I'm not saying jump on the first one that comes by, but at some point you might want to make the trade-off of not having your first choice color vs. enjoying the car. Yes, I wish that I had found an aqua cab with nat brown leather, but then I still might not have a 911 vs having had a lot of fun putting 12k miles on the ruby/black that I got a year ago.
Color is something very subjective. When i saw my car i was not really in love with it, i did like it but was not in love with it. There was a macadamia brown that kinda got my eye. Some friends convinced me that white is an awesome color for the 997. I good friend actually said if he had a choice then he would have prefered white over the silver he got. I got the white and a few years down the road i could say that i made the right choice. Color grows on you. Green is a unique color just like toms ps blue color. If you can get the car at a good deal and it has all the wants in there, id say Get it brother. Rotes is right a wrap is just a call away. By the way do you like the interior color? That one is more difficult to change.
A while back when I was searching .2 "S" cars those launch green cars where everywhere. I think I sae at least 6-7 different ads for them. Despite the lack of used .2 cars on the market those .2 launch cars were not moving.
It's not even in his top 3 colors. I wanted white with black int but once I saw an Atlas grey car there was no option for me. I have not seen another one on the road and I just love it. I am just saying that unless he is looking for an exceptionally rare color combo like aqua(I have never seen one in person) with natural brown interior(only seen two of those at the dealer) there are other cars out there. Who cares if they are out of state. Fly in and drive it home or better yet have your local dealer find you the right car or as close as possible. It's what I did with mine. Told my sales guy what I was looking for and they found one. Took a long time but he got what I wanted.
I also believe that by buying from your local dealer you will get treated better than someone who bought one elsewhere.

Yes, green isn't in my top choice, but neither is Black, Silver, White. I always said I wouldn't buy a black car, too hot and hard to clean, even though I think black cars look great. Silver is boring, seems like 50% of the cars on road are silver. White, my past 5 cars have been white, so I wanted another color next time. With that said, I'd buy any one of those colors in a Porsche 911. The 911 just makes any color look better.
My wife likes the green, and the photos look good to me. Then again, she used to own a forest green Honda or Acura with the gold accents, she even got pulled over once because the cops thought the car matched what a typical drug dealer would be driving. Guess she was in the wrong part of town...
I need to see it in person and then make my decision.

I'd sacrifice color for options and condition unless I couldn't live with the color. The only two that I did not like were yellow and silver. I'd avoid black too just due to the workload with keeping ir nice. My first Porsche was an 07 C2S, black with tan interior purchased in 2011. Great car. I learned alot about 911's in the year I owned it but I was always looking for a clean 997.2.
A year later, 2012, I found a 2010 white with black interior 997.2 C2S. Had every option and only 5500 miles. Jumped on it and haven't looked back.
My problem with the green is that it's an English color on a German car. Isn't it called "British Racing Green" Didn't sit right with me.
Whatever you do, it won't be the last car you buy. So don't act like your stuck forever with it.

I bought the same car and color combination at the end of March that was traded in at a local BMW dealer for $60,500. It had slightly less miles (24,000), new Michelin Super Sport tires, and some remaining Porsche CPO warranty (6 months). This car looks reasonably priced. In some of the pricing tools I looked, the color was discounted a little under $300.
The warranty covered a new battery a few months ago which I had planned to replace shortly before it failed. So far I have really loved it. It replaced a 1996 911tt which I had for almost 15 years. I am discovering things I like about the car everyday. The transmission is a delight and works well in traffic and spirited driving as long as it is in Sport or Sport+ modes.
