Apologies if this is old info to you but the July issue of PCA's Panorama has a full page ad re the IMS Settlement.

go to 996 forum, it is all there.
it does not apply to any post-2005 997 cars anyway. it is all for 996 cars as I understand. or may be some 2005 997 cars may get covered.

I do believe there are some cars with build dates in 2005 that are covered. There are specific serial number ranges that are listed in this forum somewhere, for the cars that are covered.

If there is an ad somewhere asking for people to join the class, then the case has not been settled.
It is probably a condition of the suit that potential plaintiffs get notified that there is a class-action suit ongoing.
Once settled, I don't think you can become a part of the class.

All the details are on the website I posted with the text of the ad. This is an advertisement by a law firm to join the class action suit and of course has not been settled yet with Porsche NA. It covers 2001-2005 911's and engine and VIN's are listed on the web site and yes it appears that if you have paid out of pocket for IMS failure you might get money back. This is from the attorney web site:
To Participate In This Settlement:
You must be a present owner or lessor or former owner or lessor of a Class Vehicle; and
You must:
Have suffered a documented IMS failure that caused you to pay for repairs out-of-pocket; or
Have a documented IMS failure in the future that would require you to pay for repairs out-of-pocket.
Damages You Can Recover:
You can recover:
Out-of-pocket money you spent to repair your vehicle after an IMS failure based upon the number of miles your vehicle had at the time of repair (see chart); and
Up to $200 toward documented towing and/or rental car fees related to the IMS failure.
