I've been flying to LHR (London) for years and IMHO it is the best car city. Lots of marques with all years represented. i.e.. when was the last time you saw a Messerschmitt on the street?
Been flying to China and Japan lately. Different car culture to the max!!!
In PEK (Beijing) I see Audis, Volks, MB, Lots of Japanese brands and a few US types. Mostly black, white and silver as colors with some red and fewer blues. Lots of 2 wheel traffic of all types, also.
Traffic seems more ordered then Rome but it is hectic.
Finally, since Jan. and about 3 trips a month to PEK, I saw my first P-car. It appeared to be a 991 Cab in what appeared to be paint to sample bone/ light tan. It had the top down and was moving swiftly through traffic in all lanes! Perhaps it was someone who did not have to worry about getting a stop for a moving violation!
I visited the Porsche Dealer in Shenzhen China last year, across the street from my hotel. Prices were 2.5 times higher than the US on average, mostly import taxes. Beautiful Dealership but no customers while I was there.
I have seen a couple of 911's in Beijing and Shanghai but very rare sightings. Chinese in general like larger cars, MB R Class, BMW SUV's are very popular with the affluent crows.
PEK? How old are you? They haven't called Beijing Peking since 1949. Anyway, China loves their Audis, especially the gov't officials and all the other citizens likes to get a black Audi to seem more special. MB and BMW are right behind it. Porsches are rare, especially 911's. You'll see more Cayennes and Panamera's.

PEK is still the airport code for Beijing, I don't see him calling Beijing by the old name, do you?
The ICAO identifier is ZBAA. PEK remains the Beijing airport 3 letter identifier. Both for the same airport! And the airport is where I fly into before going to Beijing the city. It is just an aviation thing! Like LHR is London Heathrow (EGLL) and LGW is London Gatwick. SFO is San Fran (KSFO) and LAX is LA (KLAX)!
However Shanghai is ZSPD. Z -Speed!! Has a certain attraction, don't you think??

I live in Shanghai and just returned from a 10 day business trip in San Francisco. Can't say SF has that many more P-cars than Beijing. I travel to Beijing a lot and see more P-cars on the road than I see them in SF. Ynot is right that Cayennes and Panameras here out number the 911s though, and by a lot more.
Having said that, I did see a 997.1S with aerokit on my way home in the cab yesterday. Not that rare a sight.
