The other variable that has yet to be disclosed is the number of annual miles the policy is rated on.
Daddyscar, you must have a 991 prototype for it to be a 2006.
Doh! Clearly I have been thinking too much of what to do once the CPO ends on my 997.
More details . . . all cars are 7.5k mi/yr as we don't drive any cars more than that per year . . . $1k deductible. You really should be saving car insurance claims for more severe situations. Above average liability coverage.
Really to give good comp's you would have to give more info than you want about yourself.
With an 02 Mercedes CLK430 (daily driver) and an 06 997 S (pleasure vehicle) my insurance from Nationwide is $1700/6. No tickets or accidents. I have a $250/250 deductible on the Benz and $500/500 on the 997. Includes roadside, windshield coverage and rental car. Because my commute is 44 miles each way the insurance went up nearly $300/6 months. I live about 50 miles from San Francisco. I use to pay $134/month (one car) and now it's $282/month (multi-car).

Why don't you get a quote from your agent on changing the deductible to $1000? You will be surprised what it would do to your premiums. Asking for a quote won't cost you anything and if you switch, you will save the difference in the deductible (in the unlikely case of an accident) very quickly. If you do call, let us know what it would do to your costs (even if you decide not to switch).
SoCal, which is not the cheapest, but not the most expensive area, no claims, with state farm
07 gt3rs - 350/ 6mo
13 bmw 535i - 450/ 6mo
07 mini cooper s - 375/ 6mo
They are all fully comp, 1m/1m with personal liability policy, uninsured motorist, no rental, or "other coverages"
Why a mini valued about 15k is the same to insure as my gt3 is beyond me. They are both on the same lower miles rated policies.
I use to work in the insurance industry. One thing I discovered was certain insurance companies fight all "grey area" or atypical claims to keep rates down. Google bad faith insurance companies and see where your insurer ranks. Straight forward claim - no problem. Not so straight forward - watch out.
