Default PDK Cooling radiator

I have noticed that 2011-12 911s w PDK (inc TT) have a center front radiator. The 2009-10s do not. I had heard that at track events the PDK trans was getting "too" hot on initial model year cars. Is this radiator for trans cooler as in the 2005-2008 Tiptronic trans cars? My local dealer service team had no idea & Porsche brochures do not mention it. My X51 has a center front radiator but it is for engine cooling and I like that design! Sorry if this is covered already but my search did not pull it up. Thx.

He missing radiator you are talking about is the 3rd aka center radiator, so you've got it already. The PDK cooler has a heat exchanger with the water cooling system so the 3rd radiator brings all, temps down

Hatzen is correct, the radiator that is standard on the 2011 pdk equipped cars is a cooling system radiator. If your car has the x51, then thats it. You do not need anything else.

I realize I do not need anything else, I was inquiring to whether Porsche decided or realized that PDK cars needed additional cooling (albeit a heat exchanger) for the PDK trans cars that was not included w the '09 or '10 Pdk cars? If that is the case, is it better to get a
2011-12 Pdk car if I want to track it? Make sense? Thx

2010 C4S w PDK -- no problems at the track with PDK overheating or oil / water too hot -- so far so good. Always run with Sports Plus on and at or near redline as much as PDK will let me. Typical NorCal track temps range from 60's - 70's in early/late season to 90's - 100's+ mid summer. 3rd radiator may be helpful but I have not found it a requirement. I also change oil at start of and about 3/4 way through track season as well as a monthly inspection of brakes, bearings, hoses, etc.

if you plan to install a gt3 bumper get the gt3 spec radiator and correct ducting -

its funny its actually a 996 part number and costs a forturne -

http://www.jimellisporscheparts.com/...ssembly=475774

the generic 3rd rad kit that its offered for sale is vented from the underside of the bumper.. whereas the gt3 vents from the hood vent .. better aero.

i really want to add a center radiator but want the gt3 bumper so i am waiting to do this upgrade. my engine temps get fairly high around 250 when driving with some fun in mind!
