Default Have you seen this oil filter?

I did my first oil change on my 2009 C2S few days ago and the filter that came out looked fairly different than Mahle or Mann filter. In fact this oil filter seems to be higher quality than OEM.

Has anyone seen this oil filter?

Yes I have. I just bought a 09 Carrera S from Carmax. After seeing their parts department shelves full of filters you would find at Jiffylube I decided for piece of mind to change the oil with Mobil 1 0/40 and install a Oem filter. The same made in Korea filter in your photo was what they put in the car. My gut instinct was right. Who knows what oil they put in.

Oem filters are cheap relative to other Porsche items.

If you want to go off brand(non-Porsche) then at least consider using a Mahle filter. http://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Inf...C%20Each%20%20

The Porsche oil filter I bought was a Mahle in a Baggie with a Porsche sticker. It is the Oem filter. Pelican is a great resource.

Actually WIX has a great quality filter part #: 57211 that is supposed to have better than OEM filtration according to LN & Flat 6 IIRC.
It is supposed to reduce insolubles in UOA even further than OEM.

I can't remember where and when I came across that bit of info, getting older....
Mahle oil filter indeed is OEM to Porsche.
Air filter element is made by Mann Filters. Absolutely identical less ink jet imprint on rubbery red (pink?) part. Save your $$$.

Pelican Parts is where I get all my parts for Porsche and BMWs.

As a matter of fact I just got a large box from Pelican delivered to me on Saturday afternoon, free shipping. The Fedex Ground driver refused to give me the box unless I answered if I had a Motorcycle or a Porsche in the garage. The guy was so funny, I ended up showing him all the good stuff. Apparently, all drivers know that Pelican Parts mean you are a do it yourselfer tinkering with Porsche or BMW.

The end flange on that filter looks a lot like a HENGST, which I use, but it is made in Germany. Check them out, at least from a tactile sense they are the best designed filter I have used. Both in Porsche & BMW applications.

To all members recommending pelican :

Thanks. That was what I did. I ordered bunch of stuffs from pelican but it turned out those parts do not fit to 997.2 unlike what their product descriptions say. Oil filter was smaller size and Oil filter wrench did not fit 997.2 oil filter cap. I had to leave the car on ramp till I got a filter from dealer the next day.
