Lightbulb New Guy's wheel question

Hello everyone- loving my new-to-me 2009 Carrera S Cab 6 spd car in Meteor Gray/stone leather/gray top. It's my third Porsche and 7th in the family. Been away too long.

Anyway, I'm thinking of having my Carrera II wheels powdercoated. Can you help me decide on an color?

1. Meteor gray- same as body
2. A darker gray but not black
3. Another color?

Thanks so much,

Tim

I'd leave them alone. My black wheels show dirt more than my silver wheels and require more effort to keep them acceptably clean.

I have debated doing the same thing, so I think you should have them done meteor gray so I don't have to experiment. I think, if possible, it would look best if the lip was polished.

I'm not a huge fan of wheel paint that matches the body paint. A little cheesy or over done IMHO. I'm sure it can look good, but I prefer the contrast. A polished lip on painted wheels is a must have, as it provides nice contrast. Black painted rims with a polished lip, as I have on my GT Silver GTS, are awesome, but do show dirt, but I think it is less noticeable than on silver wheels.

These wheels have to be one of the best for the current 991 Carreras. Too bad they are 20's.
this is RL'r mrm930's 991, Platinum colored Carrera S wheels on Agate Grey

If you are going to paint them I would choose the Meteor Grey with polished lip option.

I have Turbo 1 wheels which have the face of the spokes polished and metallic grey, (Meteor Grey, Slate Grey?) on the sides of the spokes and the barrels. Compared to black the grey obscures brake dust.

Here's a rubber paint kit(basically plasti-dip) which would allow you to try out a particular color and see if you still like it over time. http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...=997S_wheelacc

My son did this with a plasti-dip kit on his Tacoma. Went from silver to black wheels. After six months he returned it back to stock silver... I was glad we didn't waste the $$ to powder coat his wheels.

Beautiful car. I'd keep the wheels the way they are. My $0.02

It's all a matter of personal taste. With some cars the wheels look good painted to match the body--and with some, it is just way over the top.

I, too, have been considering having my Carrera II wheels painted Meteor Gray, so I concur with KLS ^, paint them Meteor Gray and show us LOTS of pics!

Agreed! Would leave them be - they're perfect with that colour!

Hyper silver with inside barrel and spoke edges blacked out.
