Because your exterior and interior are the same color I would not paint your rims the same color. I would leave them alone but if you are going to paint them I would go bold and get matching seat belts. Red or orange? I have a all black 997s with red seat belts and standard rims. I have been thinking about malign my rims red but my wife says I'm too old.

Well, since you ask, IMHO, I would leave them exactly as they are. They look good and the contrast works. However, if you want to make a subtle mod to your car that will LOOK ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and improve the handling (if done right), lower the ride height by 3/4" - 1". I don't know why but this makes all the difference on our awesome 911s.

Not sure about your roads, but here in Ontario ours are in a sad state indeed. I wouldn't lower it.

Here's a rubber paint kit(basically plasti-dip) which would allow you to try out a particular color and see if you still like it over time. http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...=997S_wheelacc
My son did this with a plasti-dip kit on his Tacoma. Went from silver to black wheels. After six months he returned it back to stock silver... I was glad we didn't waste the $$ to powder coat his wheels.

I'm not a huge fan of wheel paint that matches the body paint. A little cheesy or over done IMHO. I'm sure it can look good, but I prefer the contrast. A polished lip on painted wheels is a must have, as it provides nice contrast. Black painted rims with a polished lip, as I have on my GT Silver GTS, are awesome, but do show dirt, but I think it is less noticeable than on silver wheels.

In terms of lowering, just to clarify, the ride height is not adjustable with the stock setup, you will need new springs or coilovers. If you go this route, you should absolutely get a full four wheel alignment and corner balancing done afterwards. Camber, toe, etc, are all adjustable but have it done by a reputable alignment shop. YMMV at the Dealership.
There are a lot of threads here with recommendations on lowering. A search will reveal lots of info on this front...

I'd do a really dark gray glossy finish. Gloss black also looks really good on gray cars...
My wife has black BBS CH-R on her Meteor Gray A3 (slightly different shade of gray from Porsche Meteor Gray):
