Hotter the better.. trying to blow this sucker. Im about done with the exterier so need some real mods

Seriously though.. its a valid concern. Is the wing up for downforce, cooling or both? Thinking downforce.... but what are the expensive ducktail guys doing. It should be the same.

The OEM spoiler goes up for both cooling and downforce and that's the point of the rubber or plastic baffle that extends out with it - actually give the air a path into the engine compartment. Usually the decklids that have fixed wings or a ducktail either are more open to the engine bay where the cooling fan can be more effective, or have additional scoops to increase the volume of air entering. With the factory decklid that has the raising spoiler, the mechanism that's underneath does not allow for a lot of natural airflow. If you've driven your car long enough to get it hot, then taken a short brake, when you restart it and start driving again, you will sometimes notice that the rear wing has deployed on it's own even if you haven't gone anywhere or pressed the spoiler button, this is the engine temp sensor turning on the fan and raising the spoiler to help with cooling.

I really like that flying ducktail product that jsalah linked to. If I had a regular decklid 997, I'd put one on it during the introductory offer. That gulf blue car in the photos looks like the one that was a retro project a while back. Originally, they were going to go with a TT decklid and just remove the upper wing - guess they liked this look better, and I have to agree.

I will need to get some other opinions on this. I guess reenabling the wing might be in order

Check it out, but here are some different examples:

Pic of my RUF decklid with multiple full width air inlets (some not visible)

TT decklid on my wifes car - multiple full width inlets leading to these 2 main inlets visible here

Scoops on fixed aero cars

Large inlets for ducktails

That is a gorgeous car. Utterly timeless. Not antique in the least.

Are keeping the XRRs wheels as well, because they're the OEM wheels when I ordered the car. I also need to add my other Porsche to the Avatar.
