Default Class Action/IMS Question

My '05 is out of range for the serial numbers listed for the class action suit. So that means I must have the 'revised' bearing for late '05 into '06 and forward. Anyone know if this revised bearing is significantly more robust and what the estimated % of failures are with this revised bearing?
Is an L&N upgrade still recommended? I'm assuming all M96 engines don't have to have the crankcase split to do the job. Thanks!

It really depends on engine #. There is a thread somewhere listing the presumed engine #/mfg date (from door panel) outside the range. But check again. I thought the same thing but in the specifics there were X's i think to signify any letter in a range (I don't have it handy to explain better). With that info mine was actually in range.

Thanks for the info. I did do research and found the 3.6 engines are supposed to have the upgraded bearing from 69507476 and forward IIRC. My engine number is 69508315 which would indicate an upgraded bearing.

The VIN number going forward for the upgraded bearing is 717475 or 717476, my VIN is 717556 so again I think I must have the upgrade.
Anyway does anyone have an educated answer to the original question?

The revised bearing has a much lower failure rate. I don't think anyone can accurately quantify the failure rate of the old or the new but I have heard of very few revised bearing IMS issues and most of them you do hear about are not first hand. To your other question I did go the LN engineering route with my older bearing but would not with the revised bearing as I don't believe there is a real need.

Check out USMC's response about 4 or 5 down. Goes to the second hand nature of the reports

Nothing really concrete on revised IMS failures. Only time will provide answers IMHO.
