Default Damn! Add me to the !@#$%^&* List

A guy in a MB cargo van backed into me today (see stock pic). I was in the left turn lane and the guy in front of me backed up because the car in front of him had broken down.

Slight dent in the center of the bumper cover and three or four hair line cracks in the paint. No pics, because the cracks and the dent are hard to see.

Damn, damn, DAMN!

OK, rant over!

He will balk when you reveal to him how expensive this repair will be. I remember when stopped in traffic a guy rolled back into me, putting two marks in the front bumper made from the screws in his license plate frame. He was shocked that I was so pissed. He was more shocked when he got the bill, which he promptly turned over to his insurance company to pay. Having it done right, by the right shop took way longer than I would have imagined, and cost way more...sucks!

Make sure you file a police report as hair line fractures can pop up even weeks later and could be expensive to repair

I just had to have my front bumper replaced due to fouling debris on the highway. New bumper painted and out the door was about $2400.

What a drag, Tim. I had a similar event with my old 996. At least the bumper covers are easily replaceable, if that's required, and with a quality paint job, you'll never know it happened. Good luck with it.

Some kid rolled into my wife's Lexus when we stop at a traffic light. Two screws from his license plate holder made indents on our rear bumper... came out to be $1000+ for the repair. He had an expired DL and no insurance. Allstate handled the whole thing n we eventually got a refund on our deductible.

Sorry to hear about your incident... hope all goes well and they get you back in saddle soon. GL...

Update: Quote on the cost to replace my front bumper cover, paint and labor for $1,936.

Not terrible. In fact, a LOT better than the guy who owns the Ferrari that was at the body shop. Someone driving a pick-up truck with dual wheels backed over the hood of the Ferrari, while the owner was in it! $53,000 in damages. OUCH!

Wow, what a $53K mistake. I guess you were (somewhat) lucky after all...
