Default help!

Last couple of days I've noticed a decrease in power under acceleration, and some anemic starts.

Today the start took several seconds before the engine turned over.

While driving home, I went to pass some cars on a rural road and had even less power - enough that I knew I wasn't imagining things.

Also, te car seemed to rumble with acceleration.

Finally, I briefly got an orange check engine light that went out, and two blocks from home, the red engine light and "reduced engine power"

Temp was fine, oil level was fine.

Is this an alternator fail or something more serious?

I've got a tow booked for the dealership in the am, but I need some advice and a stiff drink to make it to tomorrow!

By te way, odometer reading is 113,000km on a new 2011 c4s.

Thanks and down the hatch.

Sounds like either a fuel problem (ie: fuel pump) or spark (ie: coils) to me.
Alternator would usually just not charge the battery leaving you stranded with a dead battery.

it's a fuel issue... HPFP would be first concern... but check all items related to spark/fuel....

No idea what the problem is but 64,000 miles on a 2011 seems like a ton of miles

Yeah that's te correct figure. It's my daily driver - its been a fun ride so far!

Finally it was the hpfp. Car will be ready for pickup in the am.

To celebrate (and because a couple of good deals fell through recently) I've bought a fabspeed exhaust, spacers, and a techart spoiler from pfaff tuning. Theyll be going on in a couple of weeks, once the parts arrive.

Thanks for te help last night gents.
