That's insane...who can tell an exhaust from the look of it? I know I can't and I've probably got as much training as one of these CA inspectors!

How does the short-shifter feel? I've been thinking about putting one in.

I dunno, but here's a link to some posts from people with first hand knowledge.

I'm done modding my car after:

- Clearbra (bumper, full hood, full fenders, side mirrors, lights)
- 7mm/15mm spacers
- OEM windstop for cabrio
- OEM short shift
- OEM Porsche sport exhaust
- Steering wheel controls retrofit
- Universal audio (iPod)
- smartTop controller

I love my short shifter, the feel is awesome and it was relatively cheap for parts/install.

The only mod that I'm not super happy with yet is the iPod/steering wheel controls. It's much more awkward and unintuitive than the BMW iDrive system, but maybe I just need to get used to it.

I have numerous mods but the B&M SSK would be at the top of my list next time around. It's one of the best bang for the buck mods.

First hand knowledge as a director for an auto parts store and specifically in charge of performance for many years: In California any Intake, Exhaust, carburetor, Catalytic converter(anything to do with intake/exhaust) must be approved by CARB or your car will fail. CARB Decals are on the product. They are all registered. It's not an option and they are more than happy to sue you as a retailer as they regularly come through our stores making sure we are compliant. You would be shocked at the amount of automotive chemicals(even blue water) that are different for Cali vs the rest of the country. Things like gas cans are different, it's a huge pain in the *** to manage it and we even have to do California versions of ads due to regs. They are nuts.

If you live in Cali make sure any aftermarket intake or exhaust components is CARB certified prior to purchase or you will have issues.

I find that *very* hard to believe. If you change/remove the cats, sure that's another thing, but the cans alone, don't think so...

stock is almost worthless, or costs as much to ship as you'll get from selling. :-/
