Default Dash Wart -backlighting

I recently purchased my first Porsche and am just discovering a few things that seem a little odd to me. Its a 2006 C4S with sport chrono

1. there is no back lighting on the dash wart
2. I seem to be missing the ability to control the lap timer

The previous owner changed out the factory PCM to a Kenwood touch screen. Any chance i have lost some functionality because of this?

The wart only lights when it is active, otherwise it remains dark all the time. Sorry that I cant help you with your 2nd question.

The dash wort back light works only when it is in use.
It is not controlled via the PCM, but rather the lever behind steering wheel on the lower left side.

You can have the dealer program the chrono so it's backlit all the time.

Interesting, though not sure why one would want the light on when it the unit is inactive. Would be a distraction at night IMHO.

Thanks for all the quick replies it seems I wasn't operating the control lever properly and that's why I couldn't get to the chrono option. I will try backlighting in he morning. One further question I definitely don't have the Tire pressure option I'm the menu, is that an option that my car doesn't have? I would think it would be a standard feature

No need to go to the dealer. Just start the timing function with the stalk on the steering wheel and then stop it. The light on the wart will remain on until you reset to zero.

It's fairly dim and not a distraction at all at night. At least to me it isn't. I keep it lit all the time since otherwise it's the only gauge in the car that's not lit at night which looks like a bulb has burned out.

It would be great if the wart actually had a clock in the digital display when not operating as a chrono. The clock in the dash is difficult for the passenger to see, and there does not appear to be a clock on the PCM display, which is odd to me, unless we've just missed it.

I'm pretty sure TPM wasn't standard in the US until the intro of the 997.2 in 2009. Outside the US I think it was still optional and certainly would have been an option on your 2006.

Thats kind of what Im thinking as well, looking in the Tequipment brochure that comes with the owners manual they list all the different wheel options and each one of them is listed with or with out TPM, that's why i questioned if it was an option on my car

Ah ha! You appear to be in Canada, whereas most contributors here appear to be in the states. Different rules, different options.

fbfisher: there is a time display on the botton of the PCM display. At least there is on my .2.

It is. I had the dealer turn the back lighting off completely.

Time of day? If there is, that's news to me.

From the main screen, not only time but day, date and temp - bottom right sector of screen.
