I live exactly 3 miles away from work also, all city driving and with the top speed limit of 35. I'm still glad everyday that I have a 997. Even though it is tough to justify, those occasional on-ramps on the way to the golf course, make it all worth it. Just need to adjust your thinking that your 997 is now a toy/hobby, versus transportation that you measure in cost/mile.

The 911 is the 3rd car. I gave up on a justifiable rationale for owning one long ago . . . just passion for my personal dream car. Oddly, and I know I am in the minority here, I enjoyed driving my 944 n/a more than the 911. Aside from being embarrassed at stop lights by soccer moms in minivans, it handled great, made good noises and I felt like I could get into it a bit without going straight to jail. The 911 is far better/more refined, but needs a track. Sadly, I haven't tracked it nor will I anytime soon. Feels a bit like negligent ownership.

I work from home one week then fly 3,300+ miles round trip the next week for work. So really zero commuter miles to work for my C2S but I still manage at least 1-2 spirited drives each week and 5-6K miles per year on the odometer. In fact, I believe we put more miles on the Carrera then my wife's Lexus. She enjoys being chauffeured to the store and I enjoy the drives. Hope you don't have to give up the Carrera due to a short commute... at minimum it's a great date night car and contributes towards that balance of work vs. life mental therapy.

I'd defn stick to n spec tires. This will ensure ther are no issues with getting it certified for an extended warranty.

I would sell as is.i bought my car knowing it needed new meats. Big deal. And new tires are squishy for at least 500 miles or more so NO they don't make the car feel more responsive!
Quite the opposite!sell it and move on!it is a porsche yes but in the end a metal machine and replaceable! Money, lovers, clients and cars come...and go...glws.

I would buy the tires you really like.. Oh.. Don't sell the porsche.. It's worth more to you than the crappy offers you will see..

My office is 1.5 miles from home and I bought a GT3,,, FWIW..
