Here is the deal.....the car is perfect mechanically Not one single problem. The paint meter however shows that the front bumper has been painted. Neither of the front quarter panels were painted nor the hood and no airbags were deployed. So I ask you all.....would that stop you? I have never owned a car that has been in an accident and I don't really know if it was in an accident it could have just been scuffed and the owner wanted to fix it. what do you think?

Everything else is perfect, price is right, and I like the car a lot....Bumper cover would not be a problem for me. I have had two replaced on Porsches in the past, you forget about it really.

Deposit is holding the car....a local Porsche dealer that did the PPI is now going to certify it for me. Going to fly out and drive it back next week. Pictures to follow because I know........I didn't happen unless there are pictures.

EVEN BETTER NEWS!!!!

1. The car wasn't in an accident really...the previous owner just emailed the details. An SUV backed into him in a parking lot at a very slow speed and it was only cosmetic. He gave us the body shop name and contact info so I am going to get the documents to prove for future reference when I sell the car down the line

2. A local dealer is willing to buy the car for the agreed sales price with the dealer (non Porsche) that I am working with and Certify it for me for $3,000.

I wouldn't sweat that. Sounds like a totally cosmetic fix. Things happen to bumpers, which is why they're called bumpers. It's not unusual to have a bumper cover repainted every few years, and not a sign of a problem IMO.

Buy the car, or else I will!

UPDATE: Deal fell thru....the MB dealer would not sell wholesale to the P-car dealer so i could get certified, then they would. But, in the meantime, I found another one in Connecticut and drove up there today (4 hours each way) test drove it and bought it. Being shipped down next week. I will take pictures once it gets here.

Good for you. There are plenty of 7.2's on the market, so hunting for "the one" gets to be exciting. Color? Options? Also a Targa 4S?
