I have a 997 Arctic Silver Cabriolet. I have an opportunity to replace my scratched up rear center console with either a body color Arctic Silver console or a stitched black leather console.
What do folks here like more? I know the leather console will look great, but am unsure of the body color interior pieces. Will it pick up scratches, etc as easily as the stock black one?

if you get it fom bumperplugs, it won't scratch with daily use. I have a black painted rear console fom him and it is like brand new... even after a year an a half. on my prior 996, I had a speed yellow console... awesome. if you get the silver, it will look spectacular against the interior...

If you're keeping a bear in the back, you might get some scratches

if you have a full leather interior, i like the leather console idea. not a huge fan of body colored consoles.

One option - I've had a 997 console covered in leather (yet to be installed). You could inquire at classic 9 leather shop (no affiliation, other than a customer).
It's stitched black leather with grey thread - thread looks white due to the flash.

I've driven several 997s before recently picking one up. I am wanting to do this as well, as there was a GT Silver car I didn't go with, but had the matching center console, and the car I have has a standard console with a full leather interior. I remember feeling the smooth textrue that felt really nice. I think the stitched black leather console would look great, I think I'd prefer the feel of the painted center more than the leather, so smooth and nice to touch - if that makes sense.

I had my console done by Classic9 as well. I sent one of my smaller trim pieces so he could match the stitching color properly. I have a stone gray full leather interior, and the leather console completes it wonderfully IMO. There is a photo of mine on their website. The leather has slightly more texture, but looks great and matches color very well.

That looks Great, is that the Dark Grey, Light Grey, or Silver Grey thread?

I sent in about 5 photos of the full leather interior in different light on different trim pieces . I asked for medium grey thread. As you use leather cleaners and conditioners and you get dust in the interior over time it should be a close match with oem leather and thread color. Tan is probably much harder to get close than black.

Your console is what gave me the idea to get it done. It looks fantastic. How is it holding up to use?
