Bringing back an old thread as I own a 2009 Black/Black C4S and have been looking for wheels good for the street and track. I have been looking at the following OZ wheels...I know they are at diffferent price points but how do they compare for the (1) Street and/or (2) Track...thanks

AMT Forged Alloys

20 inch wheels that are lighter weight than most 19 forged

Real forged, not Rotary Forged, or HLT, or ....

Retail is $5000

Im selling the set now for much cheaper

I just bought a set of BBS CH-R wheels in anthracite for my winter tires. I will mount them in the next week or two and I'll post some pics.

I am seriously considering this wheel for my C4S (HRE 795r)...it is an older model but a set with tires is sitting at my Porsche Motorsports shop as they were ordered for a wide body configuration over a year ago and when they came in back then the customer bailed...so they are looking to move them. The setup is as follows:

Wheels Front - 20x8.5 / Tires Continental 245/30/20
Wheels Rear - 20x12 / TiresContinental 325/25/20

I know 20in wheels will affect my handling/acceleration some as I assume these may be a bit heavier (I know the tires will be about 8lbs heavier) but these would be for looks and everyday driving..I would keep my stock wheels for track, autocross days, etc...but I just keep thinking how good that 325 tire will look on the rear of my Wide Body...

Not my style (but I am biased), but if you like them then go for it. The 325s on the rear would look incredible.

BTW, not all 20s are heavy. The set I am selling are just over 19 pounds on the front, and just under 25 on the rear for a 20x12. They are lighter than most 19s.

Good luck!

Here is a thread comparing AMT and some other wheel weights in 20x12, in case you are interested...

Thanks and I am struggling to find the actual weight of these wheels because they are an older model...the shop says they contacted HRE to find the weight and exact offsets so I guess I will have to wait and hear from them.

On the style, I am not real crazy about the bolts on wheels but if you saw these rear wheels in person between the massive 325 tires and the good size chrome lip you hardly even notice the bolts...

Bottom line is that when brand new (which these wheels basically are as they have let a few customers mount them to decide if they want them) these wheels and tires were probably somewhere between 9-10K and they have a current price tag of 5K and said they are willing to work with me to move them...heck if I could get them for 4,500 out the door (tax and install) I feel like I would have stolen them...

$4500 is a good deal for sure.

There are some pics in the thread below of the 795r (painted) on a 997, to give you an idea of what they will look like.

I like the monoblock look better myself, but as I mentioned, Im biased

You can't go wrong with HREs regardless. As long as they aren't super heavy.

Couldnt find the weight of the 795R, but a similar 20x12 HRE 3-piece 5-spoke comes in at 31 pounds without a center cap, at this thread...

Im going to guess the ones you are looking at are even heavier, since the spokes look more bulky.

Hey thanks and I found that same car in my research...I also found pics of a TT with 795r painted black...look pretty good but these are both on White cars and mine is Black?

On the price that would be great but even out the door at $5K is still a heck of deal...IMHO

Hey... what did the weight of the HREs come back at? Im guessing 33+ for the 20x12

I just reweighed the AMT Forged Alloy 20x12 rear without the center cap and fresh batteries in the scale

Comes up at 24.0 pounds !!!!!

Ah, too bad.

My guess is those wheels are going to come up as 25-27 pounds up front, and 30-33 in the rear.

I looked at the pics again and I realized why I dont like the look of those HREs. That convex center style of wheel hasnt been popular since the wave of concave wheels hit the market, about four or five years ago. If you go to the HRE site, they have numerous current designs, and none of them are convex like those. All are either flat or concave in the center.

I found this pic of the HRE's in the same finish you are looking at. In my opinion, they look dated.

Wow! That does not look bad to me and like I said the rear they are trying to sell me is huge (325 set up)...I am not going to make any decisions until I see them on the car since they are willing to do that for me...trust me if they come in that heavy and don't "BLOW" me away I am not going to do it...I have other options in mind like I posted earlier in this thread so waiting to see first...speaking of...I found this pic of a 911 and similar wheels...no concave and big chrome lip...just wondering if the ones I am looking at will look like this?
