My car came without one and I'm loving it too. I'll probably get one of these though. Especially for when I go up to LA - they'll ticket you when parked, so this is a decent option to keep in the frunk.

Agree our cars look much better without front plates.....I've been curious about the Show n Go Retractable Mount...I've seen one operate in person, pretty slick. Google it.

You guys are lucky. Over here in Ontario they ticket for missing front plate often. My friend's got 3 warnings so far for missing front plate on his C2S in 5 years (but no actual ticket yet). I've been in an A8 without a front plate when we got pulled over and written a ticket (no warning). That A8 has been on the road for about 3 months at that point.

Yeah it depends on the enforcement where you live. I bought my car in California with no front plate. Licensed in Missouri and didn't attach front plate. Never had a warning or ticket. Now I live in Arizona and only rear plate legally required.

It looks better without, but I sucked it up anyway. Figuring a red 911 is enough of a target anyhow.

Hassle here in a city with big post-Olympics debt and a city gunnin' for money. Got tired of being pulled over by the motorcycle Pugs (Police thugs). My car attracts enough attention as it is so I used 3M All Weather Double sided tape to tastefully mount the front plate so it hangs down over the center area (the Porsche plate holder has the plate mounted high up in the are and looks gooby IMO...) I've the got the Skeene system and may use that shortly but beleive it our not the 3M tape is a sturdy alternative.

If you're in an around NYC/NYS, you're going to have to get a front plate. I made a bracket and a smaller frame that fit inside the center rad hole (I don't have center rad anyway). I had to trim about 1/2" off the top and bottom of the plate but that's covered by the plate frame.
At least this way it's recessed so it doesn't screw up the lines of the car and you don't have to drill holes in your bumper (just drill into the center rad plastic hole cover).

Front tags required here as well. I've made it 9 months without any problems. I've even been directly behind cop cars a bunch of times and they've never noticed (or cared enough).
I keep my front tag under the driver seat and if I get pulled over will show it and try my luck.

I'm wondering why, if you need a front plate, no one has come up with a vinyl plate. That is, a piece of plastic that you can put on the front and peel off at will (so you don't have to drill holes). I looked at the CA DMV regs (not exhaustively) and there does not seem to be any requirement that the plates be metallic and drilled into the bumper.
That said, and I'm sure I am jinxing myself, in CA when you get a new car you get a temporary registration. There are no plates and all you have is a plastic envelope in the lower right of the windshield with the temp. reg. tucked inside. I did not take this off when I got the plates; my reasoning being, a policeman is going to notice no plate from the front and if there is a temp. reg. showing he/she may think the car is newly purchased. The only time I was ticketed for no front plate was by Berkeley Parking Enforcement ($30) for something like improper license plate display and a comment being "no front plate". There are a number of camera lights in Berkeley so I suppose they are more vigilant about this. (And it was a "Fix-it" ticket. I could have gotten $12 off is took the time to drill holes for a plate and then go to the police station and have them sign off. Uh, I chose to pay the $30.)
