Have 997.2's Jumped in Price Recently?
Maybe its just me, but during the time in which I started searching for an '09 (three weeks ago) it seems that most CPO '09 C2S out there are $70k - $75k+.
When I first started looking around I was seeing quite a few in the very low $60's to mid-$60's. Of course, I could be wrong. I am talking about CPO cars with decent options but not crazy loaded. I've been primarily using the PorscheUSA search tool and then the usual suspects.
There's one guy on the forum here who said he bought an '09 C2S w/ 25k miles for $55k...non CPO. But still, that's a LOT lower than anything else I am seeing...even non-CPO.
Is it the time of year? I just want to have my expectations dialed-in so I am not waiting for the wrong thing...illustrating a case of the Nirvana Fallacy.
No hurry at all but I want to be ready so I can pull the trigger when the right thing appears.

I suppose if I was a dealer selling I'd throw em out at high prices and see what happens when just heading into the spring.

I bought my 09 CPO in Mid Jan, 2 ft of snow on the ground, the dealer offered to delivered it in a trailer. The car sat in the lot for 4 months, I paid below $55K for a near base C2. It is a great deal for my first (but not last) Porsche!

I do think they did see an increase in value once the 991 was released. I did not care for the 991 when I first saw it but it is beginning to grow on me. However, I still look at the 997 and think they are as beautiful as the 993.

I think it's seasonal.
The dealer bought my car mid-November. No-one was buying during Thanksgiving and they dropped the price by end-December. They dropped it again in mid-January and then again on 10th February which is the day that I stopped by the dealership. I picked her up for almost $5k under their original asking price and I have CPO warranty through Sep 2015.
The reason that I see it as seasonal is that I never cancelled my Autotrader alerts. Mine is still a few $k under comparable CPO 2009's that are popping up. If anything prices are on the rise...

That's the time to do it. Wait for a blizzard, walk in the next day to the dealer and lowball the hell out of them...haha

Buying sports cars are just like the real estate market. I might as well take off work from November til end of January except for the past year because inventory has been miserable here.

Just purchased my 2009 C2S for 62K. CPO until May 2015, full leather, PCM, adaptive sports seats, sport chrono, OEM SSK, 6 speed, 2 sets of OEM Porsche wheels and tires (winter/summer), 31K miles.

I purchase my '09 C2S coupe for about $55K on Jan 31st of this year from a Minnesota non-Porsche dealer. A week later when I was having problems with the shipper, in other words the car was well sold, the dealer said the car would have increased by "at least $4K in April". Tru? I dunno, but I think I got a good deal for a car that was loaded with options and originally sold for $110k.
I also had the Manheim auction prices for all C2S coupes sold nationally the prior 30 days, and while the numbers were all over the place, I think the auction price was around $53K. And by the way, options were irrelevant... miles, condition, color and transmission type were the only real factors for price (that I could see).
Peace

I guess January in Minnesota is THE place and time to buy! Nice job.
I just drove a perfect condition '07 C4S very well equipped ($101k list) machine with 18k miles hot off the trade at a non-BMW dealer and they will sell it for $50k or wholesale it. So...again nice win.

Too many variables are missing. Are these cheaper cars pristine or repainted / crashed. What is the colour combo? Green with tan interior, PDK? DME report? I doubt you're getting pristine condition 911S cars with low mileage for mid 50s.

Bruce in Philly's purchase was well-timed. He didn't mention miles, options and condition and whether he had a PPI done. Being a non-P dealer, no CPO.
but for a $110K list, it's pry we'll sorted.
C2S with clean Carfax and knowledgeable seller, IMO asking price would have been higher in the spring.
A friend of mine is looking to purchase, but it's slim pickings for the nice ones as we head into nice weather.

Here are the Manheim auction prices I had for earlier this year.... sorry, can't get it to line up..
These are sales for: 2009, Porsche, 911 2WD, 2D Coupe Carrera S
Date, Auction, Sale Type, Price Ocometer, Cond, Color , Trans, In Sample
01/24/13 Palm Bch, Regular, $64,600, 9,906, Above, Black, A, Yes
01/10/13 Rivrside, Lease, $54,500, 14,867, Avg, Grey, A, Yes
12/27/12 Rivrside, Regular $42,000, 32,253, Below, , 6, No
12/19/12 SF Bay, Regular, $50,500, 33,977, Avg, White,, Yes
01/10/13 Tampa, Regular, $53,570, 41,805, Avg, Blue, M, Yes
01/10/13 Rivrside, Lease, $44,000, 67,464, Below, Silvr, 6 , Yes
I left out "Eng" as they are all "6G" I guess for 6 cylinder/gas.
I don't know what "In Sample" means.
So there you have the science, no opinions or "ooooo Porsches are special and therefore.....".
I am interested to hear what you folks think of this data or how to interpret it.
One thing that struck me was how few there were nationally.
IMHO, I believe the auction price is a "floor" and represents the cheapest possible price you could pay... otherwise the dealer would dump it at auction. Note that original price, therefore reflecting options, is not in the data. Of course, the person who provided this data to me may have selected the columns when he/she printed... I don't know how this report is selected then reported... but... here is the data!
Have at it.
Peace,
