I read Adias' post today on Gary Sims' passing with sadness. As with many of you, I never met him but it was obvious he was an amazing man. I learned quite a bit from him and was touched when looked to this community for solace during his hard times.

Back when Cindy died he asked all of us to join him in a toast on a Thursday night at 9PM.

Bought this last week after hunting for it for months after I read that it was jim murray's single malt of the year. (multiple casks) No better time to open it up and have a drink for gary.

Count me in. We are all going to miss Gary and his posts. He was extremely knowledgeable and an extraordinary writer. I regret that I never had the opportunity to meet him.

I'm in. I didn't know him but really enjoyed his thorough perspective on things...Got the 12 year old Dewars ready.

 

Im In. What a sad day, he was a great guy. Does anyone know what happened. He just got a 991 and seemed to be enjoying it - although I didnt ever meet him in person.

When Gary did it for Cindy it was 9PM local time wherever you happened to be. I kind of like the idea of a progressive toast circling the earth on an hourly basis. I'm hoping some of our members from around the world join in also.
