Best street/track tires?

A couple of my friends just got the Rivals, and I just got ZIIs. We should know in a month or so how they compare as more people get a chance to test them, and put their performance against a clock. Early indications are that Rivals may be a bit faster and more forgiving, but they don't come in my size yet so ZII is definitely faster for me! They're both supposed to be faster than AD08, RS3, XS, R1R, Z1* and pretty much all the other previous top tires.

What about P Zero's vs PS2 or PSS or Yokohama's? Any comparision?

My friend who has a 10 C4S has p zeros but is changing to SS. When I tracked my c4S I went from PS2 to PSS; good all around tire esp in rain. I have heard RS3 great in dry conditions. Now with my GT3 I just pulled off some corsas with tread on and put Supersports(SS) on due to weather and learning the car more. Have done 2 track days so far with ambient temps starting at 32 going to 45 degrees. Need to keep SS hot psi =36 IMO or they start getting greasy . Can search threads on this.

As everybody stated, Michelin SS, RE11 etc are very good tires.
However, for a good combination tire that holds up well in the heat (ie stays sticky on a hot track) since you live in Soutern CA, may want to ask around the track you frequent about the AD08. May give up a second or two on the coold day or first 3 laps but take in back in subsequent laps. I use the AD08 on my GT3 in Texas and I love them. Tried the RE11 but get gooey when hot. Have not run the Michelin.

Yoko AD08 carries a low-temp warning; the tires must never be exposed to temperatures colder than 18F, or it will damage the tire. Even sitting static under pressure could damage it. So if you're in an area that occasionally gets cold and don't have the option of keeping it nice and warm in your garage, look elsewhere.
Although in fairness, I have to wonder how many other tires are the same, just don't carry this warning...

I actually live in Northern CA, but I spend at least 75% of my track days in 90+ degrees ambient temp tracks (Thunderhill and Buttonwillow), so hot track temp is a major concern for me

PS2s didn't last long for me, so I won't go back to them. I've had good results with the RE11 and AD08. Haven't tried SSs yet. I have R888s on my 997 now, and will be trying them on the track soon.

Sumitomo HTR ZIII.
Michelin, Bridgestone, etc are no doubt good tires. But if youre using them on the track too, they get awfully expensive. Why spend so much on a 1/2 year committment. The Sumis perform great (see Tire Rack's tests), wrat like granite, and are inexpensive. And if you dont like them, frequent trak says mean a new set is always right around thw corner.

I've had RE-11's on three different cars now, all used on track at one point or another and I can't say enough good things about them. Super Sports aren't as up to the track action IMO.
I would be very curious about the RE-12's if they are really coming out soon. I was thinking of replacing my tires this Spring and would definitely try the 12's over defaulting to the 11's again.

RE-11A (sorry, got the name wrong) will be released in March. Still no word on performance aside from being better than RE-11s, which were already pretty good!

the only thing that i dont like with the RE-11s is the weight. According to tirerack they are the heaviest of the bunch with the OEM PS2s as the lightest...
I also noticed that tirerack dropped the Michelin SS less than $1300 for the set! not bad at all!
