Default Trailers

Planning on taking a trip to California again in late July. Myself and a friend will be bringing our cars via trailer. Problem is we need a trailer and would like to rent one. We live in the Houston area, and are looking for options if anyone knows of any. We would rather tow them vs paying the transport companies to take there and back. Any ideas?

I used to work for the largest equipment rental company in the US and and we offered tilt-bed or flat bed tandem axle car trailers for as little as $50/weekend or a few hundred dollars per week.

More rental companies will now only rent trailers for towing behind a (moving van) vehicle rented from them.

Buy a used one, and sell it when you get home. Probably cost no more than a long distance rental.

This is true, but only of the places like U-haul. The OP needs to go to an equipment rental yard, not a moving truck place. The people at the equipment rental place will gladly help you hook the trailer up to your own vehicle 'cause they don't even have any vehicles available to rent...just forklifts, booms, etc.

Time will probably matter a whole lot more than distance--trailers don't have odometers, so you're just paying for the time.

We have been looking for a used trailer so that is an option.
Also have seen a few equipment trailers etc. but really want an enclosed.

Driving them is not really an option, wanting to keep the miles down on the cars, plus we are taking a 3rd persons Ducati in the back of the truck.

Priced out having them shipped and just looking for cheaper options right now.

I think you would have a hard time finding an enclosed car trailer for rent. Perhaps your best bet would be to ask around at your local car hangout, place an add in the local rag, and ask everyone you know , facebook ect,...... you might just get lucky,.....
