Default 997 Exhaust Question

Is the muffler on a 997.1S different from the 997.1? Or is the only difference the removable tips?

Similarly, is the 997.1S PSE different from the 997.1 PSE?

The reason I ask is that I am considering either the Gundo exhaust hack or adding a Porsche Sports Exhaust (used).

Non S has smaller exhaust tip diameter vs the S.
The PSE is the same. It comes with its own tips.
The PSE from the S will fit non S car as long as you get the PSE tips.

So will PSE exhaust tips fit on my 997S? I want to put PSE tips on my Gundo Hacked S mufflers.

No, PSE tips will not fit on the stock mufflers. The stock mufflers on the 997.1 have a single pipe exiting the muffler but the PSE has two pipes exiting the muffler.

OK, thanks. So does that mean that when PSE is turned off, exhaust is only coming out of two pipes instead of four?

I think whether on or off it only comes out one of either pipes. The switch just chooses where it comes out of.

That surprised me too. So I guess that means PSE on is a complete muffler bypass but Gundo Hack is only partial? That would explain why Gundo is done with 2" pipe while PSE is apparently quite a bit smaller than 2".

Lots of pictures here:

PSE inner tubes are 1 3/4" diameter.
Gundo does not improve gas flow. It discharges to one exhaust pipe per side.
PSE uses four tail pipes in sport mode.
Cheers,

I recommend you just pop off the tips, send them to a custom chrome shop and ask them to polish up the stainless steel tips (they cannot 'chrome' them)....it will really look great ! I have a great guy near Richmond, VA who did a very nice job.....(I have an '08 C2S, Cobalt Blue on Sand)

If anyone is looking, I have a set of 2006 base carrera stock mufflers for sale. These are the NonS version. I changed mine out for a gundo set.
