Swapped .1 multi function wheel to .2 GT3 RS wheel.
I didn't particularly care for the triangle airbag shaped multifunction wheel on my car and decided to swap to the newer .2 GT3 RS alcantara wheel. I figured I might as well do the shift **** to match at the same time. The swap was easy enough after some fiddling with unlatching the triangle airbag.
On a side note, I was curious about the shift linkage I found when replacing the ****. It appears to be an aftermarket short shift kit or perhaps the factory SSK? I wasn't sure and the build sheet of the car didn't mention the factory option. I was hoping someone might be able to identify it for me.
Looks great, nice job. Did you need any other parts for the wheel conversion, or was it just the wheel.
I'm thinking about doing something similar, although I'd like to keep the multi function option, so would go with that wheel.
Thank you. No, it was just the (admittedly overpriced) wheel and airbag needed for the swap.
I of course lost the multifunction options in the process but as this is a 'fun' car they were of no great concern to me. We seldom even use the radio.
Definitely a straightforward install. Disconnect battery, unlatch airbag, remove torx bolt from wheel (T55 I believe), replace with new wheel, plug in new airbag orange connector and push in new airbag. Done.
The hardest part by far is unlatching the airbag since you're just inserting a screw driver by feel.
I had my dealer order the parts with my PCA discount and I did the swap. After unlatching the airbag it's a 5 min job.
