Great for lifting Porsche’s, BMW’s, Mercedes, Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, M3s, Vipers and many others. No need to drive up on ramps or place 2x4’s under the tires to reach your lifting points.
At $550 it better be a quality piece! (I'm sure it is; at 89 lbs it's certainly no lightweight.)

Sear has a Professional that is a 3-ton all aluminum heavy duty floor jack. It's a step above the 2-ton and costs about $350. I bought one last year after my other 2-ton jack gave out.

exactly rick.

to the OP, figure out where you'll be using the jack. If you need a light portable unit get a AL one or if you have space and dont care about weight the Arcan is hard to beat for its value and quality.

I bought 4 HF 2 ton low profile jacks since I couldn't justify a lift. Under $100 each on sale. Also bought the proper pads with the insert on to that goes into the pad on the car, to help prevent slipping off jacks. The pads fit perectly inside the jack pad. Good to have a helper jack up the car so it goes up evenly. Unless you're doing only one side at a time. The jacks are heavy but work great.

+1 on the OTC racing jack. I have one as well and it works perfectly with the JackPoint stands too.

I guess it depends, I already have an aluminum one, but I still think I am going to buy the Costco one, if you do not travel with it and do not mind the weight I can not think of one that is better for the price, not to mention the Costco Return Policy if you do not like it is outstanding.

honestly, its hard to buy a bad one unless you go like dollar store cheap.

I have some pepboys $75 3 ton one. I've had it about 8 years now, still works fine.

Its heavy like a sumbitch, but you pump the handle and the car goes up, so what do i care.

I have 3 of the Sears Craftsmen lightweight floor jacks that were around $129 each. They started leaking after 1 year - all 3 of them - and Sears said sorry we do not warranty them.

I bought the OTC based on the recommendations here after my Craftsman 2 ton crapped out. It works well and does seem to be better constructed than the Craftsman. If you watch it on Amazon at times the price for it and the jack stands drops and is not much more than the jack alone. I also use the Edgy hockey puck method for lifting the Porsche.

Another +1 on the low profile Harbor Freight jack for me. I figured for the 2-3 times a year I'll use it, it was worth the gamble.
